Morning Ladies,

Just looking for some reasurance really, I'm 31 weeks (today) with baby number 2. I've been getting braxton hicks from about 17/18 weeks, but just every so often, as I've got further on in the pregnancy they have become much more regular and have more of a pattern to them.

Last night from about 10pm I had a really bad upset stomach and had to go to the loo about 5 times (sorry tmi) and I was awake all night with braxton hicks which I was getting literally every couple of minutes, they weren't painful just the normal tightenings etc. I've been getting them a lot this morning as well...I'm not worried as such I just wasn't sure if there was such a thing as getting "too many"

Baby is very active as normal so nothing to worry about there.

Thank you xx

I think there is such thing as getting too many.

Towards the end they ask you to go to the hospital if they are 2-3 mins apart or even 5mis I think.

They also need to become more intense and more uncomfortable and slightly painful but there are women who do not feel pain in the same way so that might not be a good indicator.

Chances are that they have been brought by your upset stomach but I would call your MF or MAU.

I personally think ( not a medic ) they should have subsided by now.

Of they haven't I would definitely call.

I'm 38+2 and had some contractions every 20mins on Sat and Sun. I got all excited but then they just disappeared.

2mins is very frequent. I would get them checked.

I had them increasingly from about 18 weeks in my 2nd pregnancy.
Around 28 weeks I had a urine test in case it was a UTI causing it, then around 31 weeks was sent for monitoring. I sat in the hospital for a could of hours with the kit attached thinking "well not having many here with my feet up". When they read the equipment they freaked a bit at the number I'd had and kept me in for steroid injections to strengthen the baby's lungs in case it came early then discharged me.
Ds2 was born at 37 weeks (as was dc1).

Thanks girls, I think I'll ring my mau just to be on the safe side, I've still got a really upset stomach as well. My tummy feels so sore and uncomfortable as it is, then there's baby kicking and having a party plus all these braxton hicks 😩😩😩 roll on 9 weeks lol !!!! xx

Dehydration can make them worse too so try up your intake of fluids to see if it helps

Thank you xx

I rang MAU and they said to keep an eye on them, in terms of them becoming painful etc and to keep an eye on baby's movements. She also said to keep well hydrated with water and lucozade.

Hopefully they have just become much more frequent due to my upset stomach. I am seeing community midwife on Thursday anyway and in the mean time if I have any major concerns I can contact MAU 😊
