Flying & Sunbathing...

Good evening!

I've just found out I'm pregnant :) around 3 weeks.

I am due to go on a hen weekend abroad this Saturday to Wednesday. 3 hour flights.

Will it be safe to fly?
It is safe to sunbath?

I'm thinking I should probably cancel so I don't risk anything... but if anyone had any experience it will be appreciated.

Thanks! X

You'll be fine! I got pregnant on my honeymoon so was sunbathing and had a long haul flight home, all was fine! Just drink plenty of water to make sure you don't get dehydrated

Absolutely safe! Your hormones may make your skin react differently in the sun so keep very well protected and hydrated.

I definitely don't think you should cancel. Both of those activities are perfectly safe. You don't have to wrap yourself in cotton wool for being pregnant. Only thing is you'll have to have to stay sober. Go have fun

Ahh thank you!

Now to think of an excuse as to why I'm not drinking....
(Can't use the anti-biotic one as my friend is a nurse)

Congratulations! You'll be absolutely fine and probably won't notice any differences to normal. If you're only 3 weeks, you are exceptionally early in your pregnancy (the day AF is due is usually 4 weeks).

Yes and yes.

The things to avoid are destinations which require travel jabs you are not in date for, or malaria pills. And zika areas.

Check how pregnancy Ian's conditions arising from it are covered in your travel insurance. Pay an extra premium if it's in any way not sufficient.

Yes AF is due the day i was due to fly but I've had a BFP 10DPO!
So I shall be 4 weeks on the day of the flight.

"Now to think of an excuse as to why I'm not drinking.... "

Go for fake drinking. Have drinks around, occasionally lift to lips and have a teeny-tiny sip if really corenered. Have DH/DP swop glasses with you, so it looks as if the amount in your glass is going down. Volunteer to go to the bar, and make sure yours is a mocktail or plain tonic (which everyone will assume also contains gin or vodka).

From day 2 onwards, claim awful hangover as reason to start 'drinking' later.

Congratulations! I've flown twice a week in pregnancy to no harm :)

If you look for a post on this board about a hen do, there's a good excuse involving antibiotics which are the non drinking ones that a pharmacist gave the OP.

Metronidazole is the one you want, say you've been to the dentist as it's usually prescribed by them for abscesses etc. Can't drink whilst on it and for a couple of days after finishing the course. Hope that helps!

Brilliant, thank you!
