Hi everyone!

I'm currently about 5 weeks pregnant (I think). It's been a number of years since I had dd2 and I seem to have forgotten how to do this!

I know I have to take folic acid and not eat unpasteurised cheese, pate, runny eggs, underdone meat, too much tuna.

I'm sure I'm missing something though. What else am I not allowed to consume/do? I seem to remember a lot of it is quite random. Someone mentioned something yesterday about gardening for example...

Congratulations! You can have runny eggs now according to my midwife! I've heard about gardening, don't empty your cats litter trays if you have them, if you have to then use gloves. I've also read not to eat food that's been left out, ie buffet food but I'm not sure on that one!

I think Lion Mark /stamped eggs are fine runny. Congrats!

Don't eat liver - too much vitamin a.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 01/05/2017 09:35

Congratulations.

Things like make sure your salad is washed properly before eating, and not cleaning the cats litter tray (if you have one)

Think you've got most of it covered in your first post.

The NHS websites pretty good for info in this sort of thing. I pretty much googled everything I was unsure about in my first pregnancy before eating it! Grin

take vitamin D too.

Not too much caffeine.

Gardening a risk for stray cat poo and weed killer I suppose. Ok if you're careful, wear gloves and wash your hands if think.

Have good ventilation when using cleaning products or using other chemicals, e.g. Hair colours, hair removers etc.

When you get to sixteen weeks, don't lie on your back to sleep or exercise as the weight of the baby can affect blood circulating and make you feel faint. Lying on the left side is preferred.

Stick to the NHS advice. You could go mad following all the 'rules' touted around the internet.
