Phil & Teds or buggy board?

My dd will be 27 months when dc2 arrives in May, My question is do we buy an expensive Phil & Teds which seems to be the buggy of choice or do we just go for a buggy board? I walk everywhere, never ever drive. DD is reaching the age where increasingly she wants to "walk" ie dawdle around picking up cigarette butts and can have mega tantrums when placed in the buggy so I expect her time in a buggy is limited, however I don't see with two how I can do things like go round the shops or get places in a real hurry as she will just jump off the buggy board if she feels like it. Any advice gratefully welcome

P&T!!! I was wondering the same thing. My dd will be 25 months when new dc comes along in June and I pondered for ages, but finally decided to go for the P&T. Mainly because it is a single buggy as well. I am using it atm as a single and I love it. Also they hold their value really well and sell on ebay for almost as much as they are new, so you won't be wasting your money. ATM Daisy & Tom are doing the full double for £300 which is the cheapest I have seen and is the price I paid.

we had a p and t when dd2 was born, at 28 mo. couldnt have accomodated daytime sleeps without it. sometimes they'd both sleep, and i'd head for starbucks!

got cheap buggy and board when dd1 turned 3

Most certainly the P&T! I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old & have had every pram in every sequence going & wish I'd bought the P&T to start with. You have all the benefits of a single buggy with the added extra of the toddler seat. My dd walks everythere but still needs to sit down occasionally and loves sitting in the P&T.

I couldn't keep her on the buggy board and she was too tired to stand.

The P&T is expensive but well worth it

Phil & Teds! I love mine. best thing I ever brought.

Mmmm I would go with buggy board only because I bought a marco sky for DS who was 26mths when I had DD1 and within 2 months he didnt want to go in it anymore. Think it was a waste of money. However I can understand wanting a P+T as I want one but my age gap now is 12mths so I know will get a good use out of it.

Definitely Phil & Teds. A lifesaver. We had samish age gap between ds and dd. Had a Phil & Teds and also inherited a buggy board which we used on our Maclaren.

The buggy board was a great novelty for a while but rubbish for my back and awkward on kerbs etc. Also didn't allow possibility of older child napping...so great for a quick wander down the high street but not much else. Depends how much walking you do, I guess.

My ds wasn't keen on pushchairs before we had the P&T but he loved the very elevated position of the seat when baby was underneath - we made much of it being the big boy seat.

i really want a Phil and ted's but they're so expensive, even on ebay. thought maybe asking grandparents/friends to chip in instead of getting new baby gifts when no. 2 comes along.

I am going through the same dilemma at the moment- DD will be 2 and a half when I have new baby, and was thinking of going for the buggy board option. We don't currently do that much walking but guess I will in the summer when we have the new baby, so it is difficult to decide what to do.

Our other consideration is that we have a M&P travel system which means you can transfer sleeping baby in car seat to pushchair (it clicks in place) without having to remove them from the seat. This is something we would do quite often with DD and it seems a waste to get a P&T which doesn't allow this.

I look forward to other people's opinions before making a decision!

hollyandalice · 13/03/2007 20:24

Pulapula you can buy this to convert the P&T into a travel system and it works with most car seats.

cjs76 · 13/03/2007 20:44

Definately the P & T I have 2 year gap ds1 now 2 1/2 still very happy to sit in - love it for walking and as long as the car is a reasonable size it will fit ok - can get it in my mums clio. Would have been lost without it!

Trimum2 · 16/03/2007 22:09

My "gap" will be almost 3 years when No.2 is born this summer. If the gap had been 2 or 2 1/2 years then I think the decision would be clear for P&T. But 3 years? Any thoughts on whether by this point its a bit pointless?

As someone said here on a earlier message, its trying to get the shops and getting places in half decent time that I still need the buggy for at the moment.

Has anyone tried those seats that attache at the back rather than the buggy board?

chocolateface · 16/03/2007 22:30

I bought a P&T when I had my 3rd child, and it has been an absolute life saver. Ds2 was 27 months at the time, and we're still using it everyday. DH was furious I spent so much money on a pushcahir he thought we didn't need ( we already had a double mclaren and a double Mothercare urban detour 3 wheeler as well as a single mclaren & buggy boarde ). I have no regrets, except that lots of people stop me to tell me how great it is!

Jelley · 16/03/2007 22:41

Trimum - I had a seat-to=go for mine (15 month gap) once dd1 was 2.6 and it worked well for us. I preferred it to a buggy board (kept kicking the bb) and dd1 could sit on the seat - she even managed to sleep on it !
This was before P&T were around , but it was a much more economical solution for us.

midnightexpress · 17/03/2007 12:21

hollyandalice - how does that travel system converter work - it looks in the picture as if the buggy is in the 'newborn' position? Do you put the extra seat in the 'downstairs' position and the car seat on top? I have p&t for my 2, aged 16 m and 8weeks and not sure how it's going to be when ds2 gets a bit bigger but not yet big enough to sit up, so this might be a solution (and might keep him asleep too ).

btw, has anyone had problems with their p&t? My friend has broken hers twice - the chassis has snapped.
