Off to Rhodes next week and will be 32 weeks . Apart from flight socks can anyone think of anything I will need to get from the pharmacy?

You can get anything you need from a pharmacy when you're there. Have you got good holiday insurance? Have you checked that it covers you and also your baby, if they were to make an appearance when you're on holiday? Hope you have a fab time.

Ooh! We're going to Rhodes next week, I'll be 20 weeks.
I'm not even sure how hot it will be as we usually go in September. I'll going to be taking plenty of sensitive skin sunscream and hopefully will find some kind of swimwear that doesn't make me look like a beached whale!

@welshweasel - good thinking about getting stuff out there! I've read through my insurance and this im covered if there is a complication with the pregnancy but if Baby McBabyface decides to come early then not sure I am covered but its like that for all insurance companies.

@urglewurgle - its about 20 - 25 degrees at the mo. You wont look like a beached whale, you'll look fantastic. I am planning on rocking the bump!!!

• Suncream. Higher factor than normal as you may find you catch the sun more easily.
• Pregnancy friendly insect repellent. Mosi Guard is good. I've used it through both pregnancies and on my baby daughter.
• Heartburn stuff (if you're suffering)

Please sort your insurance. Plenty of companies will cover your baby too (mine did). If you did end up have a premature baby I can assure you that the last thing you would need is to be stressing about finances. It's not just the hospital care, which within Europe isn't so much of an issue, it's getting the baby home when they are stable enough, accommodation for you/your family etc. I've seen the aftermath of people being caught out so please do check and buy another policy if needed. You don't want to be a daily fail sad face with a crowd funding page!

Please check your travel insurance, mine only covers until 28 weeks pg.

Take your maternity notes in your hand luggage.

In addition to the OP, I found a fan helpful, and I took canesten with in case I had thrush whilst away (with dr's consent).

Yes it will. But it won't cover repatriation of your baby (if you are insured they would pay to fly you and your baby home on a private plane with intensive care facilities rather than having to wait for months until the baby is well enough to fly on a commercial flight) or any of the costs of your accommodation etc. Honestly, just sort some insurance out. It's utter madness to go abroad at your gestation without it.

The pharmacies are OK, we got contact lens solution and antihistamines quite easily last year.

Also, of all the hospitals and clinics in Rhodes, only one of them accepts the EHIC card as the rest are private facilities. The large private hospital, which seems to be the recommended place for tourists to use, would not treat you.

Maternity care in other countries can be more basic than others. If your baby comes early, is now the time to try out those facilities? I know the odds are low but it really is so important that you are insured. Ravenhall cover up to 36 weeks.
