Buggies for siblings approx. 2 yrs apart- what did you get or planning to get (if anything!)?

Hi everyone,

We're expecting no. 2 in July, when DS will be 2.3 yrs old. I usually walk the dog everyday (v hyper dog!) and carry DS in a backpack, but since I have got a bigger bump we are now using our much abused 3-wheeler on the nearby beach or walking v slowly together without anything.

My question/dilemma is what to do when LO arrives- should we invest in a 3-wheeler buggy for 2 (I could get one secondhand from a friend) so we can still walk dog, or will I be able to cope with our existing 3-wheeler and a sling? And would this be practical when heading about town (which I don't do as often as walking dog!)?

DS is good at walking but not always in the same direction as me! I may also end up with another c-section so bearing in mind that too!

Sorry for long post just wondered what you are planning to do or have done with buggies for 2 siblings approx. 2yrs apart in age?

Thanks xxxxx

23 months between my dd and ds, I found a double buggy great. I do lots of walking so agree with Fillyjonk, expereinced lots of friends saying that they didn't use buggys anymore with their dcs at that age - but they drove them everywhere instead....
Found a sling not very helpful, dd got jealous every time I used it and wanted to be carried too.

I have a 2yr gap and a 22mo one and never had a double (P&T didn't exist then) - standard doubles are very bulky and awkward I find. Plus they wouldn't fit in our car.

I had a sling for the newborn until about 6mo and then put the toddler (by then well over 2) on the buggy board. This worked very well. Sold the b/board for £20 when dd (middle child) was just over 3. DS2 with no buggy board option poor thing has been forced to walk! Dropped the buggy for him when he was 2.5 tho it stayed in the car all last year but I should think got used about twice.

I think it does all depend on yr lifestyle - how much walking you do, how much you use the car etc etc.

Six of my friends have had a second baby in the last 7 or 8 months. The age gaps between the two children varied between 20 months and 2.6 years, they various different ideas before the birth about how they were going to cope with two (walking/buggy board, side-by-side double buggy etc) but they all have a P&T now.

Sorry to hijack but I was talking to a friend in work who is expecting her second child. Her DS will be one when the baby is born (Very close I know) DS will be too small for a buggy board and too big for a twin pram where as the baby will be too little for a double buggy. She is very much a yummy mummy and can't see her wanting to use a sling. I was just wondering if there is any solution to her problem.

The mamas and papas double aria buggy is suitable from birth with the seat in the lowest position - not sure if 'yummy mummy' enough but at least she could move around two children and would be suitable for the baby and the 1 yr old M&P double aria

P & T all the way here (gap 2.10 yrs)

Just wanteed to say that i found the one in front of the other buggys brilliant - not only can baby lay down in the back but toddler can still see.

Also lots of room underneath for shopping and most importantly of all the ability to actually get inbetween parked cars and into shops!!!

A Phil and Teds would be quite good for your colleague Typhoonsmum, as the baby lies flat in a cocoon at the back. There's a picture here of how it works (click on products, then on buggies).

Thanks Bran. I'll show her that tomorrow and see what she thinks. It looks ideal.
