Hi All,

So I found out yesterday that we're expecting which is great news - we started trying at Christmas so I'm over the moon!

Problem: my hubby is away on an oil boat in the middle of the sea with virtually no connectivity... FOR A MONTH! We're only half way through and I don't know whether to tell him on the crackly phone or to wait until he walks in the door....

I joked with him before he went that's i wouldn't tell him if I found out whilst he was away... mostly because I want to share the moment with him rather than it be an isolated thing for both of us... I didn't think I'd ACTUALLY be in this situation though!

So here I am - do I tell him or do I wait 2 weeks and tell him when he gets back (I'm just 5 weeks now).... thanks all!

I was in a similar situation and decided to wait. Unfortunately 5 days later my sickness got worse and worse (3.5 weeks pregnant) and I ended up being admitted to hospital with hyperemesis. I rang him up he answered and said 'is it important I have a meeting' I told him I was pregnant and he said 'oh well that was easy, I'll call you back after.' Then rang back about 45 mins later totally freaking out. Not exactly the way I wanted it so just keep it in mind that you might have an urgent need to tell him you're pregnant sooner than you planned!

Congratulations! Lovely to have your own little secret for a few weeks, I would wait! My sis told her husband that she was pregnant by giving him a parcel and in it was a babygro with "you are going to be a dad" printed on it. Their baby son is now wearing the babygro, makes me emotional to see it!

Don't worry too much about the GP appt, btw - there won't be much to it at all. Most don't even confirm pregnancy with another test and in many areas you don't see the GP before your booking appt anyway. That one is scheduled with a midwife for between 8-10 weeks. Often partners don't go - it's just a long stint of form filling, history taking and some bloods - and they ask about domestic violence so I think even if partners do go they're preferred to leave the room for a bit anyway. Good luck with everything!
