Why won't the midwives LISTEN to me??

The midwife keeps referring to me as 36 weeks but I KNOW that I'm further on than that. I know when my last period was, when I got pregnant and when I took the Clearblue test it said 3+; my point is, I know when I got pregnant, not the midwife. I've said that I think I'm further on than she says, and have explained why, but she's adamant that I'm only 36 weeks. Any advice as to why she thinks that or how I can get her to listen to me?Sad

Yes sperm can live for a few days. Not for two weeks.

OP I feel your pain, I have 28 day long periods and know when CD1 is, yet with both my pregnancies they changed the date to make me further along or further back but a couple of weeks. It's very bloody annoying. A few days, I'll take that. But not two weeks when you know when your lmp was, know when you had sex and know how long your cycles are.

Problem comes when you go over due... they say your 42 weeks when you're actually 44 and the placenta starts to break down.

If you get to 41 weeks you need to start kicking up a fuss. I had to do this with my first pregnancy. I ended up having huge babies as well so I still don't think I was wrong....

Alfienoisy Im wondering whether there was a question of paternity hanging over that situation....?

They absolutely can't take your word for it. Your baby's health could be affected by, for example, the midwives and consultants believing you to be 40 weeks when you are actually 42 weeks and very overdue. People lie about conception dates, it is a sad truth. Sad

Foetuses' are all individual - especially sizing wise! Before 26 weeks the growth line can be quite close and hard to discern; fundal height is usually hit and miss too; dating scans can be interpreted pretty much whichever way the sonographer wants (this isn't knocking sonographers - its just human nature that a couple of mms out at the dating scan can make a difference). Just remember that Babies come at whatever time is best for them based on loads of factors - not just dates. Sit tight and either you'll be on time or slightly over by either date. I'm in the same position - I know I'm further on by about 10 - 14 days. As long as I reach the 37 week mark (which would make him term not a pre-emie due to the surfactant amount which helps support babies breathing) I don't mind. Going over 42 weeks increases likelihood of stillbirth so I would be more likely to worry due to family history when I got to my date of 40 weeks - but again genetically its unlikely to get to that point as my first was early and every single child on both side has been 40 weeks or slightly under.

I had IVF. I knew the exact date of conception. They still went by the dating scan (albeit only different by a day).
