I'm due the start of June and that's all I tell people. I could be getting induced at 37 weeks but even then I won't tell anyone, apart from my parents and my sons nursery, the exact date.

TheLegendOfBeans · 10/04/2017 13:58

Do it! I wish I'd done this for DD. I went to 42+2 FFS 🙄

Strokethefurrywall · 10/04/2017 14:32

I lied about it (other than to family as I knew they wouldn't be a bother).

I was due 8 October, I just said I was due "early October" and nobody questioned it.

Both mine came 2 weeks early though so didn't really need to worry about it.

I would most definitely lie though, especially if you've got annoying relatives you want to avoid answering.

FluffyEwok · 10/04/2017 14:38

I know I feel a bit bad but I hate people knowing my business

Why not just tell the truth, you need to have a good memory to be a good liar, I don't see what the issue is, most people attend appointments and go on maternity leave at approx 37 weeks.

badg3r · 10/04/2017 16:27

I told everyone my due date with DC1. Big mistake. I did manage to make it to the birth without killing anyone (when our baby finally showed up at 41+2) so this time round I have told everyone a vague time frame a couple of weeks after my due date. I do tell people honestly how many weeks along I am though, because realistically I don't think anyone is going to care enough to actually sit down and work it out Wink

TheLegendOfBeans · 10/04/2017 16:33

Gilly I don't know if you've had it happen to you but what starts out as well-wishing can feel like such a massive intrusion when you are getting the following text from 5 petiole every day from 39 weeks:

"Is it here yet?"

Apart from the obvious response it drives home that you've still got to go therough the process to get the baby out. Which for me was a super scary prospect I could've done without being reminded of PERPETUALLY Angry

Off topic but I hate hearing that midwives/consultants 'won't let' people go past term+10. It's your body, your baby and you can do whatever you bloomin' like! I would advise making an informed decision though. And it's a good idea about your due date. I wish people would remember that 42 weeks is an entirely normal gestation. My dc1 was due on the 18th of the month and arrived on the 3rd of the next!

rach217 · 10/04/2017 17:04

I'm going to be vague with mine and just say beginning of November - due on the 1st but as everyone says they come when they want! Xxx

shakeyospeare · 10/04/2017 17:26

@FluffyEwok same due date as me!

Last time I had those bloody annoying texts that made me want to commit murder - totally rational - "Any movement?", "Any news?", "Is baby on its way?", "You in labour yet?"

My MIL was the worst - she text at least three times a day asking if I was in labour. I ended up ignoring everyone for their own safety.

This time I might just say the same - due sometime in December. Please don't text or ring or continually ask for updates on my cervix.

Angry

Pregnancy rage appears to have hit again Grin

FABpMummy · 10/04/2017 17:38

Baby due 29/4. I've said early May. When pressed for a date I say I don't believe in them, we should be given a 4 week window instead.

Date for ELCS is strictly need to know. Only DH and my parents (who will look after DC1) will be told.

My mum added a fortnight on to her due dates so it's a family tradition.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 10/04/2017 17:43

I did this with my dd as I was fed up with the 'have you had it yet"? Messages in previous pregnancies. I added 2 weeks onto my due date, she was 2 weeks early though so everyone I told the wrong edd to thought she was really early Blush

JuniDD · 10/04/2017 18:16

I totally lied & said Halloween when the EDD was 21 October. Only one friend messaged me asking if I'd had it before then. And then she was before EDD anyway. I never understand people who tell the truth tbh. Just asking to be bothered right when you don't need it!

TheLegendOfBeans · 10/04/2017 20:00

My EDD this time is 18 October and I am telling everyone bar people I trust not to be annoying that it's 1 November.

Chamomiletea · 10/04/2017 21:36

I got caught out yesterday! I was telling a close friend my actual due date when someone else said "you said 6 weeks!" I just said - I got it wrong ha

RMC123 · 10/04/2017 21:50

OMG! I had four children. Why did I never do this?!?!

Naturebabe · 10/04/2017 22:59

Yes totally do it. I did the same because of all the busybodies - and I would say Dec 25yh in case you're a little overdue. They will have all forgotten what you told them by the time the baby comes, and if they don't, blame baby brain ;)

Dolwar · 11/04/2017 00:40

It's because the risk of complications and neonatal death goes up massively once you go more then 7 days over especially when more than 10 days over.
So yes it's your body but I know I'd rather have a healthy baby.

lilydaisyrose · 11/04/2017 00:48

@ispymincepie - thank you. Someone said what I was thinking. No such thing as 'not let' you more than so many days over. Your choice!

Great idea though OP - I was 12 (very nearly 13) days over with my third baby, my latest yet and I so wished I'd done this. Once I reached my due date, I couldn't even do the school run, I was so bloody fed up and sick of the stupid inane comments.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 11/04/2017 00:54

I'm doing this. I just said Mid-October. Learned the hard way from DD that everyone seemed to think the due date was written in stone.
