I'm 11+5 with my first babt and they're not agonising, but noticeable, a bit like period pains. My trousers aren't that tight, but do you think sitting down for ages at work could cause it? I'm just a bit worried.

I would go to a doctor, it might be nothing to worry about but it would be a good idea to get a scan. Have you had a scan yet at all?

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 07/03/2007 18:17

Are the pains constant or do they come and go?

EdieMcredie · 07/03/2007 18:17

I think it's normal, I still get them at 13 weeks. If you are worried get scan though

Moomin · 07/03/2007 18:17

I got these with dd1 and was so worried ans couldn't find any ref to pains like these in any of the books. But they are very very normal and are usually because your womb is being stretched at the moment - there's a lot going on down there! Obviously if you have any blood loss then see a doctor but period-type pains are very normal and common.

Sitting down at work probably won't be doing the baby any harm -it's quite safe and too tiny to get squashed, but might do you some good to get up and stretch your legs every so often anyway to keep the blood circulating.

I've got my first scan tomorrow, and of course all the worries that go with that.... I haven't had so much as a spot so I thought that would mean everything is ok, but I keep hearing about missed miscarriages, and people turning up for their first scan and finding they had miscarried, with none of the usual signs. That worries me terribly.

The pains aren't all the time, in fact they're not every day, they seem to usually come when I'm at work (maybe I'm allergic!!) It hasn't been particularly stressed today, rather relaxed and fun, so I'm sure I'm not getting worked up. That's why I thought sitting down for so long might be causing it.

I have been trying to convince myself that it's normal, first pregnancy and there's lots of stretching to do, but it's hard not to worry. I just wondered if anyone else had them.

I wouldn't worry too much then. I was worried that they were all happening close together. I had a missed miscarriage - there was slight bleeding first and then period type cramps that came every few minutes getting stronger and stronger (like labour). Getting the odd cramp here and there is quite common. I'm glad you've got a scan tomorrow, that's the only way to be sure, but it doesn't sound worrying.

MrsMar · 07/03/2007 18:50

oh thanks so much for the reassurance youknownothing, that's so good to hear (not your missed miscarriage of course) I do feel a fool for worrying so much, but it's hard not to. The cramps aren't building, just every now and then get them, no bleeding or spotting. I try and console myself with the nausea I'm still feeling (peverse to feel consoled by nausea I know!) but I always wonder how much I'm imagining symptoms sometimes.

Don't worry. You haven't got any of the symptoms. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow - please come back and let us know how it goes. x

nh101 · 07/03/2007 19:04

Good luck tomorrow MrsMar! You'll be fine, I am getting pains too and every time I think "Oh no" but usually it is just constipation or my uterus doing the usual stretching (I hope)! I was really anxious just before my scan but up to then I had refused to think about it. I think trying not to think about it is best. There is nothing you can do to help/hinder anyway!

MrsMar · 07/03/2007 19:08

aw thanks you guys!! will concentrate on work for the rest of the evening (yukky late shift!) and then tonight, when I'm trying to go to sleep, I'll do my usual thing to try and go to sleep, imaginary spending of my lottery millions!!

Will post with up date tomorrow xxx

I was convinced I was imagining my 1st pregnancy right up to the 1st scan - despite rampant nausea and all the other symptoms, just because I couldn't get my head round the fact that dh and me had managed to get pregnant - it was surreal. Hope all goes well with scan and you enjoy seeing your LO. x

MrsMar · 07/03/2007 21:16

Hi moomin, I think you're right, it's because it's so surreal that I keep thinking surely something will happen. Apart from the nausea and tiredness which lets face it aren't exclusively pregnancy symptoms, I don't feel pregnant at all... my very silly boss keeps saying things like "you're blooming already" when really I'm not, plus I'd rather she didn't broadcast it around the office just yet! I'm sure seeing the little fella tomorrow will bring it all crashing in to my reality with a bang!!!
