Hi there,I've just allowed myself to believe I am actually pregnant (complications etc, some very lovely ladies on other threads have seen me through, godlove 'em! Not out of the woods yet, only 6+5, but there we go....) when I went to visit the consultant today I menat to ask about things I have to avoid eating during pregnancy. My Dd is 2 and pg with her seems years and years ago. I know this has probably been done to death but could anyone help? I've obviously already cut out alcohol and now caffeine too. Thank you x

loads of thread around on this but the big ones are anything unpasturised (mouldy/soft cheeses), swordfish...

don't worry too much about caffeine, i just cut back a lot, and did allow myself the occasional glass of wine and ds turned out fine

quietmouse · 06/03/2007 19:39

soft cheese, pate, unpasturised milk, shellfish possibly.....

trying to remember now!

skirmish · 06/03/2007 19:39

oh, raw eggs, or runny eggs

sushi

pate...

they're all coming back to me now!

funnypeculiar · 06/03/2007 19:40

tuna is another in moderation one... (no more than a can every week max)
Peanuts of course....

funnypeculiar · 06/03/2007 19:40

( & nice to see you think of yourself as pg now )

MillyM · 06/03/2007 19:41

Thanks skirmish, I'm really bad at searching threads I will have another go! Thanks for the soft cheese reminder, I forgot that and I LOVE mouldy cheese!!

skirmish · 06/03/2007 19:42

MillyM · 06/03/2007 19:42

Hi Fp, it's my Tuesday resolution, try to be positive.
Can I have mayo or does that have bad egg in it?!
I LOVE tuna too

PS - FP, can I call you my own personal stalker now?!

funnypeculiar · 06/03/2007 19:43

Ah, had forgotten that, yes it's if you have atopic people as close relatives (includes asthma/hayfever etc) I think...??
Dh is crap allergy boy so I wouldn't know about normal people

skirmish · 06/03/2007 19:44

forgot to say, don't panic too much over what you should and shouldn't eat...none of these rules existed years ago and my mum was astounded when i told her the 'rules'...and i think pg french women still eat cheese

skirmish · 06/03/2007 19:44

tuna mayo fine with say, hellmans mayo...homemade mayo a no no as it has raw eggs

funnypeculiar · 06/03/2007 19:45

Yes, I am indeed your personal stalker. have never stalked anyone before. Rather like it actually - may have to go off and find another one! Oh would you like to be special

Shop bought/jar mayo is FINE, just avoid homemade stuff

And happy Tuesday!

MillyM · 06/03/2007 19:46

It's true skirmish-I'm just so allergic to so many things that I ahve to follow the rules as if they were written in blood. ho hum, a small price to pay for a healthy bean!

skirmish · 06/03/2007 19:47

congrats on the pg btw

skirmish · 06/03/2007 19:50

this might help

MillyM · 06/03/2007 19:57

Oh fp, how could you find another !!
Thanks for the link skirmish (and for the congrats - I'm kind of just getting used to the idea!) I'll go and check it out!

you'll probably get a list of things from your midwife at your booking visit too, and there's probably new things added since i was pg a year ago!
