Dating scan and GP made me feel terrible....

Hi all!

So I am 36, found out randomly I was pregnant on Monday. My GP sent me for a dating scan as my periods have been a mess lately, was abdominal scan (no internal) and there was a sac and a yolk sac only. They measured the gest sac as 6wk 4days.

Now I did a test on the 17th feb which was negative so I have gotten pregnant since then, making me maximum 6 weeks from that, maybe 7 not sure as it was a hormone blood test, not sure if you can get a false neg with those I.e if I maybe conceived a few days before?

Anyway I went to the GP and she was really rude, said there was only a small chance of the pregnancy being viable as no heartbeat or feral pole was seen?

I'm so down about this, and don't understand? I've also been niggily and crampy all days today, mainly in the lower back but it's really worried me what the gp said! Pic of my scan below - anyone any info or ideas?

Basically those hCG levels fall within the normal range, though that range is quite big.
Not all pregnant women have the same rise in those levels, so the only thing is to assume that the pregnancy is fine.

I'd just go with the flow and see whether anything untoward happens, to be honest. A heartbeat is on the cusp as well, so I can't see why your GP said that (why are people so horrible about these things?). I go by the mantra 'no news is good news', so unless there is loads of cramping and bleeding, I'd assume everything is tickety-boo. Try not to worry and hopefully your scan tomorrow shows change which would be a good sign. Flowers

Thanks so much, I'll let you know the outcome for sure. I don't get the negative doc either, apparently because I'm 36 she doesn't want to give me false hope! Well how about not causing unnecessary worry either ConfusedConfused

Hope the scan goes well. I won't say relax, I know it's impossible to do that, but try to keep occupied and sleep when you can. I was so glad when my dd was born alive as it was such a worrying pregnancy I was pretty chilled after it.

I agree-early pregnancy is a worrying time. Hope you're alright, OP. Flowers

Congratulations! Very pleased to hear that the GP was in fact talking out of her arse. Best wishes for a happy and healthy rest of pregnancy!

Thanks hopsalong Flowers I'm going to put a complaint in I think, as the whole situation and her reaction made me so stressed out.

Ooh lovely! Congratulations!

Very annoying about the GP - they can be so hit and miss ...
