Ladies, ive packed, unpacked packed unpacked :(

I have the basics that i need for me and baby, however this is my 1st time so not sure if ive missed anything....also, I'm using a cabin style suitcase for both me and baby but recently been reading up on mums having separate bags? What do you recommend.

I currently have for baby:

2 sleep suits with added mitts
3vests
1coming home outfit including hats
Newborn nappies
Dummies
Milk will be added as I'm breastfeeding.
wipes
Muslins

For me:
2 pairs of black PJ bottoms
Old PJ top
Breast pads
maternity towels
toiletries

Will add snacks, nots and charger last minute.

Anything else you advise or would change, do you think a small suitcase is ok?

I took two separate bags. One for during labour and one for afterwards on the post natal ward. . Dh had his own little bag with snacks, camera and a clean t-shirt in.

I have said this before on threads like this but don't forget a hair bobble. My hair really annoyed me during labour and i didn't have a bobble. The midwife eventually found me an elastic band but abobble would have been better!

With the snacks, I'd definitely recommend Lucozade tablets. When I was in labour I kept throwing up from the contractions. The tablets were a godsend for energy boost. Plus you don't end up wanting to eat much anyway.

The hospital I was in for dc3 had terrible pillows, in fact I don't think I had one despite asking, I think I used my coat rolled up.

They don't wash them really, just dry them with a towel (usually) and hand them to you. Then that's it haha! It's so surreal. I think they recommend the first bath to be after a few weeks now? I'm not sure. Something to do with their skin. We gave DS his first bath at 3 weeks old, I didn't even want to bath him. I felt really sad about it, I thought he smelt amazing! DP said it was piss. PonderLand I laughed out loud at that, its something my husband would say.

Hi, I had 1 suitcase. I had:
For me:
2 long nighties (dark coloured)
Tankini (for birth pool)
Large black knickers (for after the birth as didn't want disposable ones)
Bras (again black)
Black pyjamas to wear in the hospital after the birth
Tracksuit bottoms, t shirt, jacket, socks and trainers for going home in (again all black)
(Purposely chose black or dark colours in case of any leaks or anything. And I just thought dark colours would be better as less likely to show any stains should there have been any. Though clothes don't need to be dark really, that was just me).
Maternity pads
Breast pads
My tens machine (absolute god send, got me through 4 days of contractions, and was all I needed until I got in the pool 4 hours before I gave birth (I wanted to try it, but I'm sure the machine would have continued to help as I never even needed it at its highest setting).
Black towel and flannels (for the shower after)
Shower gel
Hairbrush and spare hair bands
Toothbrush and tooth paste
My phone charger
Plenty of drinks (for both my and dh)
Also made sure I had change in case we needed anything
I had some crackers in case I wanted something light to eat, but I didn't feel like anything.
Think that was about it for me. Oh and a change of clothes for dh as well.

For the baby (we didn't know the sex):
3 babygrows (with built in mittens)
3 vests
2 cardigans
2 hats
1 pair of mittens
10 bibs (thought we may as well take the whole pack)
Special going home outfit (babygrow and a knitted cardigan)
Cellular blanket
Shawl
Car seat
Towel (in case we needed it)
Wipes
Nappies
Vaseline (we use Vaseline as nappy cream)
Cotton wool
Plastic tub (for water if we needed it for any reason)
A teddy
Starter pack of my chosen formula (as I knew I wouldn't be breastfeeding)

I didn't take muslins as never used them. Also didn't take any dummies as I knew I wouldn't ever give my baby one (as I don't like them. Again personal preference).

Think that was about it.
