Hi everyone
I'm hoping someone has some suggestions as I have morning sickness pretty much all day now but I can't stand ginger in any form, tried ginger bear, biscuits and even raw! Any thoughts?
thanks

Eat anything you fancy whenever you fancy it. Really.
Even if the thought just passes fleetingly through your head for a second, track it down immediately and eat it.

Low blood sugar from not eating makes morning sickness much worse, so keeping eating really helps.
I found grazing almost constantly (crisps, rich tea fingers, boiled sweets) solved it as I felt fine during the time I was eating and only felt rubbish again once I stopped... so I never stopped!

i found any think with peppermint oil in helped a bit, if you can stomach it peppermint tea is good (i hate the stuff) with dd1 i munched on trade craft hand pressed peppermints from oxfam, yummy, they weren't very sweet and contained the all important peppermint oil.

I also found the preggypops helped but they're expensive, so switched to normal lollypops, looked really dafted walk round work sucking lollies but they were all i could keep down at one point.

grazing as mentioned, also fizzy cold water and very strong mints while on the go, it worked for me

Sweet fizzy drinks (eg sprite)

Sucking boiled sweets

Plain hula hoops

Plenty of water

All worked for me.

Also I never even got out of bed without having a banana or piece of toast which seemed to help.

Have also heard digestive biccys have worked for some.

TBH different things seem to work for different people. Eat what you fancy when you can.

For what it is worth it will pass and you will have a massive hunger for about 3 months !!!

Brilliant, thanks everyone. Grazing sounds fab but DS has already had stern words about weight control with this pregnancy, I piled the weight on with ds and have only just got back to normal (with the help of pancreatitis and gall stones I might add!). Will have to combine it with lots of swimming or suh like I think.

Plain hula hoops...ooo...where's the nearest shop

You can do grazing without weight gain if rather than eating three meals a day plus grazing you string the three meals out.

So a normal breakfast (bowl of cereal, glass of juice, couple of bits of toast, cup of coffee) should last you till at least 11am if you eat one thing every 20min; then a cup of tea, then a biscuit at 11.30, then time for lunch, but spread it out so you start with chicken salad at 12, baked potato at 12.45 or so, yoghurt 1.15, couple of pieces of fruit for 1.45 and 2.15 and before you know it it's the middle of the afternoon...

Worked for me!

travel bands - the accupressure ones you get for motion sickness help

Oranges/clementines were my magic cure with sickness, especially if they were cold.
I also found that I was much more likely to feel sick if I got too tired.
Good luck, it's so horrible.

Thanks everyone, some great ideas. Stretching meals out seems so obvious now you've said it Mrsbadger and I love oranges so will try that too, thanks everybody

go no this site motherbliss.com and order some preggie pops (lollys or sweets) they were fab for me infact they nicknamed me kojak at work as i always had one in my mouth. lol

Sea-Bands accupressure wrist bands. I thought I had got over my morning sickness until I took them off for a day and was sick as a dog. Kept them on constantly until about 14 weeks. They really worked for me.

FIZZY WATER was my saviour - it is gross but it works because it repeats on you and that seems to settle the stomach.

Hi pheebe, sorry you're suffering. I hate ginger too, and used ginger capsules. They didn't really work for me, and I kept burping ginger too, which was hideous! I agree about mint, I mainlined extra strong mints, but also made my own mint tea (I hate the mint tea bags you can get) Just put a bunch of mint leaves in a cup with boiling water and add sugar to taste. That really helped. I was also obssessed with citrus things, I used to make my own limeade - dissolve a tablespoon or two of sugar in some limejuice (i used shop bought) and then I added a few wedges of fresh lime, crushed the whole lot up with a fork and top up with fizzy water. I usually added some more mint leaves, it's a bit like a Mojito without the rum!! Really yummy and the citrus and mint really helped, plus the sugar also helps. I hope you feel better soon

Panda liquorice or even the plain one sold in Asda. Always eat first thing in the morning (something dry, like toast, cereals, etc). Mint tea and jasmin tea helped.
