Hey. I am 18+5 weeks pregnant and working myself up into a right state. I haven't felt her move yet, and although I've had 4 scans at 5,6,13 and 14+6 weeks and heart baby's heartbeat at 15+5 with midwife i cant help but think something wrong. I have a little bump bit nothing major and dont feel off apart from huge nipples headaches and feeling sick. Just working myself into a right mess. I got midwife later on im just after some reassurance xxx

Do you have an anterior placenta? This will greatly affect your ability to feel movement.

I still would voice your concerns to your midwife and ask for a scan if you're still concerned.

Best of luck today, it is such a worrying time I know!

BTW 18 weeks is not all that late for feeling movement, particularly on a first baby

buckyou · 14/03/2017 11:34

It's still early, I didn't feel movements until 24 weeks with my first.

Won't you be having a scan soon anyway? You need to try and relax. It's very unlikely there is anything wrong.

Thanks for you replies. Yes i have a scan booked on 23rd but i am hoping my midwife will send me for a scan earlier because i am in a right state. It is my first baby yes and deep down i know she is okay but going through so much stress at the moment and its just so overwhelming right now xx

Oh bless you. I had an anterior placenta & didn't feel my baby move until about 22 weeks, DH couldn't feel anything until about a week after that.

Definitely tell your MW how you are feeling

That is still very early. It's also much harder for first time mothers to identify the movements, they often mistake them for gas because in the early stages that is what it feels like. I was similar to you as well in that I had very few pregnancy symptoms in the first two trimesters.

Are you prone to anxiety? If so I would recommend that you at least talk to your midwife to let her know how you feel. She can offer reassurance and perhaps arrange for additional support.

The midwife will probably listen to the heartbeat if you ask her to. Unfortunately you are in the stage that you just have to assume everything is OK between appointments. Just try to remember that no symptoms and no feeling movement is completely normal at this stage. And unless you have reason to think something has changed (bleeding, pain etc) then it is probably OK.

I'm 21 weeks today, and had my last scan on Friday. I've only just started feeling baby movements in the last week or two (and still only a small fluttery feeling). When I went to my scan, the midwife said I should only really just be starting to feel some movement so I wouldn't worry if you haven't already, it will probably be quite soon x
