Hi all, I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby. My youngest is nearly 8 - huge age gap!!!!!

I remember the later stages of my 2nd pregnancy being worse than first baby. However, this pregnancy is REALLY taking it's toll in comparison to other two. More niggly pains, aches, tiredness etc, generally feeling not much like doing anything.

Has anyone else found that the more babies you have the worse your pregnancy is? And does anyone know why this is.

Hi, Congrats on pregnancy..

I am 21weeks pg with number 3 and have found the aches, pains, niggles etc worse with this one.. it is to do with ligaments etc been softer ans they have done it before I think..

I am also alot more tired this time round than I was with the other two.. but could be the fact that I am running after a toddler this time ( have just under 8years between dd and ds)

Hi twoplusone, congrats to you too!

Goodness my ligaments must be kna**ered, my first two babies were over 10ibs!!!!!!!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one who's finding their 3rd pregnancy worse!

I'm also showing loads. I look about 4 months.

Good luck!

I have been in maternity clothes this time round since 12weeks.. I do look bigger than 21 weeks.. (although.. babs is measuring slighlty smaller for dates..) but I do get very big and have smallish babies.. DD was 36wks and 4lb 14 and ds was term+2 and weighed 6lb15..

How far gone are you?

Piffle · 05/03/2007 12:05

1st pregnancy great I was 22
2nd pregnancy hideous, ill, tired, poorly I was 31

3rd pregnancy now, odd niggly thing but otherwise pretty grand I am 36

twoplusone · 05/03/2007 12:07

age wise Iwas 20 with first, 27 with second and 31 now.. must be something with being 31 piffle!!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 05/03/2007 12:37

twoplusone, I'm 31 too, had my first at 21, 2nd at 23. Might be something to do with being wrong side of 30 LOL!!

I'm 11 weeks.

Hi, I'm 22 wks pg. with no.4 and feeling rubbish. I think that with each one it is progressively worse. Partly I think cos I'm running around after a 5yo, a 3yo and a 2 yo and partly because I'm older at 37. I do think that the niggles get worse because my ligaments and muscles are lax to say the least!! I think the sicknesss is part of parcel of the tiredness, but I have never felt so permanently exhausted! Mind you, DH is working full time and finishing his MSC this summer so we're both flat out. My comforting thiought is that even when the baby arrives and I'm up at night, I know I won't feel as rough as i do now. Roll on July.

charlieq · 05/03/2007 14:27

oh god yes.

This one, I just feel so huge, uncomfortable, depressed...

I've got more to do, and feel less able to do it.

incy · 05/03/2007 14:34

Absolutely. Worked full time (teaching) with DS1 until 40 weeks and didn't feel tired at all.

This time I am absolutely exhausted, has dreadful morning sickness and wish I'd decided to leave work earlier (leaving at 33 weeks) even though I am now part time.

Must be my age as I'm 35 this time and 32 last time......

my sickness was worse too with no. 2- much worse. That does seem to be a pattern (but only have anecdotal/MN evidence for it)

sort of muminfife-
you know about the good parts of it but you also just know too much about all the hard work each phase will take- so you don't have the same sort of excitement.

Not that it's not exciting- but you just can't nourish delusions that you will park the baby in its basket next to you while you landscape the garden and write a novel. so I think for me at least that makes the whole experience more of a drag to be got through iyswim.

(apols for namechange mid thread) I think I had unreasonable expectations, i.e. that I would be able to just get on with things as before, except with this cute baby next to me all the time. This time DH and I have more of a grin and bear it attitude- i.e. just get through the next 2 years, then we can have a bit more of a life...

yeah I felt much better after ds1 was born too even though he was a tetchy baby. I felt so light and unencumbered....

cupcakesgalore · 05/03/2007 16:07

I think that after the baby's born I'm just happy to feel mobile and to be able to run around again. Also not to feel sick. I have more energy for my other kids too even though I've got a teeny baby.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Not going mad after all!

There's definitely a marked worsening with each pregnancy! It seems.
