Morocco at 29 weeks - is this insane?

Already posted under travel topic, DP and I are desperate for a few days sunshine before arrival of dc2 (grandparents babysitting dd), being our disorganised and busy selves can only get away when I will be 29 weeks. I can get insurance and it's fine to fly plus I have a small bump so shouldn't be too uncomfortable. It's been a healthy pregnancy and I have a stomach of iron and anyway wouldn't eat anything from a street stall etc. Nonetheless is this a mad idea? If so can anyone recommend anywhere else with virtual guaranteed sun in March that's not too far away? Or should I just resign myself to fact we've left it too late and it's off to the Lake District for us (nothing wrong with LD, just I crave sun, sun, sun). Thank you!

albertson, it's funny you should post this because we were planning a trip to Morocco last month and I kept putting off booking anything, and eventually decided that I just couldn't cope with the thought of going. I still can't work out why. Just the thought of all that effort, possibly dodgy food, walking around etc. So last week we went to the Lake District instead. Yes, it rained most days, but we had a lovely time! I just couldn't believe that I was passing up an exotic holiday. I say if you fancy going then do it, but for some reason my nesting instincts would let me stray too far from home.

If you have had a problem free pregnancy- and you GP/Midwife thinks all is fine- then I see no reason why you shouldnt go. I mean, women do have babies in Morrocco too!!

Eat sensibly, drink bottled water, dont do too much trekking or camel riding!

Check that you dont need any jabs though.

I went at 20 weeks. We travelled lots and had a wonderful time.
One of the best places I have ever been.
Go soon though.
Pg aside,we were there in May and it was bloody hot, nudging 40C in a lot of places.

Hi Albertson - I've been to Marrakech a couple of times so I couldn't comment on the whole of morocco, but I guess it depends on where you stay, whether the hotel or whatever is clean and safe and the food is properly prepared. Avoid all buffets, don't drink water unless it's bottled, don't have ice in drinks and be careful of salads (washed in tap water) all the usual precautions. Have you thought of Cyprus or Dubai as alternatives? Cyprus is 4 hours away, Dubai about 6 I think.

If you think you'd feel happier in Europe Southern Greece can be lovely at this time of year, not baking but much warmer than here, high teens low twenties... go south though, like Crete or Rhodes. Or how about Malaga in Spain? It's only across the water from Morocco so the climate can't be that different. Another thought, how about Canary Islands or Tenerife/Lanzarote or even Madeira (can you tell I've got a map open?) They're all across the water from morocco so have similar climates (though maybe a little cooler due to being in the middle of the atlantic)

Where ever you go, have a lovely time!!
