High blood pressure through umbilical cord. Anyone experienced this can't find much info on google. Feeling worried 😩

Had a scan today I'm 32 weeks. They said the blood pressure through his cord is high. Iv got to be rescanned Monday. Also he has lost some weight still on the average line but he has been on the larger side till now. Anyone experienced this? I feel sick with worry. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes Monday. Thank you for commenting. She wouldn't tell me anything. i know they are concerned with baby losing weight and cord not giving enough nutrition. I don't know if I'll have to deliver early, if it might correct itself or only get worse? There really is barely any information and the midwife was hardly forthcoming. I'm going to update on Monday just in case this happens to anyone else.

Is that the blood flow doppler they do? I know I had issues with mine but I also had pre eclampsia so maybe not entirely relevant. However will bump and say try not to worry - they will keep a very, very close on eye on you and the baby. I had loads of growth and doppler scans as my dc had IUGR as a result.

I had this. It's a risk factor for ore-eclampsia and also IUGR. I was put on daily aspirin tablets for the rest of my pregnancy. Didn't develop pre-eclampsia and baby was bang on average size.

Keep checking and ask them to monitor the baby closely .. Don't be held with shyness .. Ask them to give you ultimate care. Insist!!!!

This happened to me. It's brilliant that they have picked up the issue and you'll be closely monitored from now on. Mine was picked up at 30 weeks when I had a growth scan and was found to have low fluid levels. I had regular monitoring and eventually delivered at 35 weeks, DS was fine.

Thank you Welshweasel. Midwife is ringing me today at some point to hopefully answer some questions. When they monitored you did his umbilical cord ever get any better blood flow or was the pressure always high?

I honestly can't remember. Mine was all due to the fact that my placenta wasn't working well so I got IUGR and oligohydramnios. They looked at all sorts of pressures including in the cord, the baby's brain and liver, it was amazing everything they could measure. It was the measurement in the cord that eventually made them decide he was better off out than in. I had steroids at 32 weeks as they were debating getting him out then, but luckily got an extra 3 weeks. I was told to give up work and rest as much as possible. I was very closely monitored and although it was scary I felt very safe all the way through.
