I'm on DC3 and approaching 30 weeks so you would think I'd be a pro by now, but nope its stressing me out trying to plan and fit it all in my hold all on wheels.

I don't want to take tons in, but then I don't want to go without. Anybody else thinking an overflow bag with extra pads, nappies, wipes, clothes etc and keeping it in the car just incase?

Last time I took a small suitcase and the midwives kept asking if I was moving in, it has made me a bit paranoid that I may have overdone it a bit hmm. I was in two nights in total and still needed extra bringing in, so I did need it all.

Hello, this thread is a little old; for up-to-date recommendations, take a look at our guide to what to pack in your hospital bag.

I will probably tweak mine at about 34 weeks, but for now it's sort of done. Thinking of getting a tens machine now hmm

My must-have would be huge knickers. I had an emergency section with my second and I had to ask my dh to go and buy me massive pants because of my scar!

Funnyonion17 · 02/03/2017 12:58

I've bought huge full sized upto belly button ones Cloud. Grin got a 4 pack reduced to £3 so I thought may aswell, can throw them away after the first couple of weeks at that price. I also ordered a few samples of the Tena pants online just for the first day, will use them with a pad.

The trouble is Funny, I still wear them now, 12 years later! Not the same ones, obviously, but they made me a fan of the generous pant Grin

AIBU to ask landlord to replace downstairs carpet in the house we have rented for the last six years? It's really cheap carpet and probably wouldn't improve much with being cleaned tbh. We never rented before so not sure of the protocol regarding what is reasonable to ask of the landlord?

catwoman50 · 02/03/2017 15:04

Oh, sorry above is first post ever and I seem to have put it in the wrong category

GF01 · 02/03/2017 15:16

From the bloke's perspective:-

Camping mattress
Extra folded-up "Bag for Life" in case all the stuff won't fit back in the bag it came in
Car seat
Extra battery/charger for your phone

cloudchasing · 02/03/2017 15:44

Why would you need a camping mattress? Confused

Bear2014 · 02/03/2017 15:46

I would love to know if anyone has actually got away with using a camping mattress on a postnatal ward Grin

cloudchasing · 02/03/2017 15:47

Is it for the man? Hmm

Crunchyside · 02/03/2017 15:48

I'm not bothering bringing a birthing plan this time, pretty sure the Midwife took it away and popped it in a shredder the second I arrived Hmm

Tricycletops · 02/03/2017 16:46

Bear2014 we did first time around - DH was allowed to stay as I was in an en suite single room but there was only a chair for him to sleep on obviously - checked with th the midwives and they said it was fine!

GF01 · 02/03/2017 16:56

"Was the camping mat for the man?"

We'll I tried to make my wife sleep on it, so I could have the bed, but she was having none of it.

Bear2014 · 02/03/2017 17:07

Tricycle ah my experience of postnatal ward was 4 beds crammed into one room and scary midwives who ejected partners at 8.01pm on the dot!

GF01 😂😂
