I've been using a manual one and not getting anywhere really

Do you have a recommended electric one that I can just use quickly and easily?

Thanks in advance

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the recommendations may be a little out of date. We've tested a whole host of products to find the best electric breast pump on the market right now.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Medela swing. If you are doing a lot of pumping I would recommend hiring the double medela symphony which you can do so from their website.

I used an Ameda Lactaline with dc4 & loved it. It can be used as a single or double pump. So glad I kept it now I'm expecting dc5!

Medela swing, tried all different electric breast pumps but this one was by far the best of the bunch

The hospital grade medela one - you can hire them for about £49 a month. Trebles my output from the puny (but really fucking expensive!) medela I bought from boots.

Spectra S1. About same price as a Medela Swing but closed system so much more hygienic.

I have the medela swing and spectra s1 (that's a double I think it's the S1) and the S1 is so much more powerful. It's also shaped like a boob Grin

For portability, expressing away from home though the medela is brilliant

Thanks so much for comments here - do you think renting will provide me with enough time?

Will I not need the pump over a long period therefore end up spending more than buying?

The rental is only for the medela symphony which is a double hospital grade pump. It costs about £2k new so you're much better off renting it but you'd only really need that if you're pumping exclusively or doing a lot of pumping. If you're just doing a bit the medela swing would be fine, I think it's about £100.

The nuby electric breastpump is supposed to be really good. It's the one I'm buying this time. It's around £50. I had medela manual(harmony?) last time and I hated it i will never use a manual again even for occasional pumping

redjumper · 02/03/2017 21:21

Medela swing again. And yes you probably would want to own it rather than rent one I guess, if you're planning to BF for a few months or have any more children in the future. I paid £100 for mine and now im onto the third child it's one of the few baby things I feel was money well spent.
