I'm so sorry for your loss and for the pain you're in. The worst thing for me wasn't the pain, but the fear that the pain was going to get worse and more than I cope with. At one point I was bouncing off the walls and making awful noises - it's a truly awful experience and no one ever said it was easy. You also don't get a prize for being brave so if you're really suffering I'd take whatever painkillers you can get your hands on - within reason.
Can someone get some more pills if you don't have the right ones at home? Codeine, paracetamol, ibuprofen, can all be taken together. I'd suggest calling your EPU and telling them how bad it is and asking for help.
Enelya is absolutely right about keeping track of what you take and when.
I got an amazing painkiller from them you put up your bum. I got about 8 or 9 nearly pain-free hours. DH had to drive bloody miles to pick it up but it meant I was able to sleep.
Distraction wise, I found very noisy, shorty, action films were the way to go. My attention span was about 5 minutes and Jason Statham films really helped. Also keep moving, even when you want to curl into a ball. Walk up and down the stairs. go on all fours and bend and arch your back might help. Hot bath (keep the door open if you might get dizzy), hot water bottle, keep your feet warm.

This was a godsend to me as well.
You shouldn't be in so much pain you're panicking, there are loads of things they can give you to help. Please call your GP and/or EPU and get them to prescribe whatever they can, and to advise on the best combinations of what you might have at home.
You will get through it. You're strong and can be brave. They might seem like the longest shortest days ever but there will be light at the end of it. If only that the pain will go.
I'm sending you a gentle hug.
