Has anyone else had this? I keep having weird flashing lights on my vision, it's only happened a few times and lasts about half an hour but I've also got a persistent headache. I had my blood taken about two weeks ago and it was fine (a bit on the low side), urine was also fine. Any ideas?

Please get checked today OP. My blood pressure was fine throughout pregnancy. Fine at 36 weeks then at 37 weeks I had your symptoms, went in to get checked and ended up giving birth the next day because of pre-eclampsia. Hope everything is okay.

Foggymist · 18/02/2017 14:44

My bp was fine at 35 weeks, at 36 weeks it was 190/110 and I had massive swelling and protein in urine, at 36+5 it was 183/110 on two meds and I had an emcs. Pre e can come on really quickly or you might just have pregnancy induced high bp, but you must get it checked.

FirstSeemItThenBeIt · 18/02/2017 14:55

I hope you're on your way to hospital.

I had PE, symptomless though. You've got actual symptoms, you need (probably) to be admitted and started on blood pressure medication.

Don't mess about.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 18/02/2017 19:31

Normal bp two weeks ago is irrelevant. It can come on very rapidly. Hope you're at the hospital and it turns out to be a false alarm.

FlipperSkipper · 18/02/2017 22:32

My BP was fine on the Wednesday, and no protein in my urine. By Monday I had high BP and high protein levels. Was admitted to hospital on the Tuesday and induced the next day. Please seek help if you haven't already, it comes on so quickly.

jessplussomeonenew · 19/02/2017 08:29

Hope you're OK, read your thread yesterday and hoping you're OK.

passmethewineplease · 19/02/2017 08:32

Hope you went and got checked out OP. It doesn't matter if all your obs were fine two weeks ago.

Things can change suddenly.

MissClarke86 · 19/02/2017 08:34

I hope you went to the hospital. Blood pressure can change very quickly, it doesn't matter what it was two weeks ago!

differentnameforthis · 19/02/2017 08:40

I googled the symptoms and thought about PE but my BP has always been at the lower end of normal so I didn't think it could be that You don't have to have all the symptoms of PE to have PE. PE can develop into HELLP, and can have terrible effects on both you & your baby.

Plus BP can change dramatically in 2 weeks.

PLEASE do not dismiss PE!!

guiltynetter · 19/02/2017 14:25

did you go to hospital OP?

mistermagpie · 19/02/2017 15:11

Sorry, just getting chance to update, I've got an 18 month old who keeps me busy!

Well thank you all for your advice and making me feel like I wasn't being silly to be concerned. It turns out I have sinusitis apparently, so nothing to do with the baby/pregnancy at all. I'm surprised because I've had it before and never had any vision problems but am just relieved that it's not PE. There's nothing much I can do about it because anti-biotics don't work apparently, so will just have to cope with the sore head.

Thanks again, you are all amazing.

That's great news Smile

measles64 · 19/02/2017 15:33

Ah that is good, a lot of sinusitis about this year strangely. When DIL was pregnant and had sinusitis Doctor gave her cocodamol he said something about tension headache because of it, one dose and she was fine again.

RMC123 · 19/02/2017 18:25

I had that when I was pregnant. I found steaming really helped the pressure in my head

SquedgieBeckenheim · 19/02/2017 18:56

I'm so relieved for you that it's not pre-eclampsia! Sinusitis sucks though. Steam inhalation can help.

mistermagpie · 19/02/2017 18:59

I can't take cocodamol unfortunately so am just having paracetamol. I am still puzzled by the vision thing but I've generally been a bit feverish and under the weather for the last week so I guess it's all related.

Menthol crystals from boots are Amazing for sinisitus, they help with the inflammation and ease the pain.

jessplussomeonenew · 19/02/2017 20:07

Glad to hear that you're not getting PE (I had HELLP so hyper vigilant when I hear of anyone with symptoms!), hope ghe sinusitis clears up soon!
