Hi bit of a personal one.... Got pg with ds second month of trying and we had bd'd everyday around ovulation. Now ttc again and have again been bd everyday around ovulation. Only been trying for 2 months but just wondered whether others could share their opinions and experiences as to how often you bd'd and got pg. Thanks

Cant really recall but they do say as much as possible over the three days. I bought the strips off ebay and they were v. accurate. For some reason I only had one day fertile a month.

I was told by everyone (gps, consultants etc) to bd every other day throughout my cycle. The first time we bd'd every day during the four day window I got pregnant.... coulda been a coincidence though?

Once a day should be enough, in fact once every three days can be enough because sperm can survive that long inside you. I am 10+2 and was very surprised at the scan to be told the date because we didn't have sex at all that week! There must have been some swimmers still left hanging around from when we'd had sex three days before! Of course, the date could be wrong, but it is possible.... Good luck!! You'll get there.

It depends. If your partner has no known problems with his sperm count and you are getting plenty of cervical fluid, then BD-ing every day around ovulation is ideal.

However, if, like me, you don't get much in the way of CM, then every other day is recommended as BD-ing tends to dry up your fluids!

Likewise, if you have any reason to believe your partner has a lower than average sperm count, every other day is recommended as every ejaculation decreases sperm concentrations.

Good luck!

I used the ovulation sticks and tried to have more sex around ovulation (I was 39, although partner 34, so I was expecting a long wait). It took around six months and funnily enough I got pregnant on the last round of ovulation sticks, which were not working (they never showed any ovulation window). These latest sticks were leftovers from a friend who then told me she got pregnant by using sticks in same pack... Funny.
Thing with sticks is that you have to wee on them at particular times and following certain conditions or they might not work (I found this out afterwards by reading the instructions more carefully).

Whether you use sticks or not, I agree with Wavedancer and also, don't have sex after a bath or in the bath/shower (it dries your fluid, which is needed so the sperm can stick on it) or if your partner had a bath or shower. Also try to lie down with a cushion under your bum. I had trouble to retain the semen and my partner kept joking my vagina was fond of spitting it out.

Thanks so much for your comments everyone. I've got the sticks and this time have gone for ones that have very precise instructions so will follow that carefully. I'm sure it will happen soon

a friend who was attending a fertility clinic was told to bd every other day. I can recommend a book by Toni Weschler called taking control of your fertility. Excellent on identifying optimal times without peeing on sticks and full of amazing info on the science of cycles. After a year of trying + a miscarriage, I got pregnant the month after starting to use her book.
best of luck to you
