Safe sleeping for baby

Baby hasn't arrived yet hence posting this on pregnancy board. Apologies if not the right place.

First baby and we've got those sleeping 'gro-bags' for her to sleep in but have just noticed they're for babies above 10lb so their head can't slip through I think. So what do we do when baby arrives if she's under 10lb (which I hope to god she is...)? Do we buy smaller gro-bags for those first few weeks or do we 'swaddle' instead, which I'm a bit scared of getting wrong, until she's big enough? What sort of bedding do I need to buy if so? She'll be in a moses basket.

Just had this same conversation dozens of times on the Sleep board, where I frequent. It comes up fairly regularly so my answers are somewhat honed to be pretty concise as a result. There's usually a few who incorrectly argue the basic facts.

Your NHS trust doesn't advise against swaddling. None of them do. Please read the Lullaby Trust website.

Just seen that the Mothercare ones are good for 5lb-12lb so that's perfect. Will go for that.

some of the standard bags also have poppers under the arms for when the baby is only just big enough

My grobag have press studs studs under the arms for when baby is smaller. But then I've had my newborn size grobag since before they were required to put weight minimums on their use, so I'm not sure if the safety.

I had massive babies anyway, so it didn't really matter to me
