or just dont care??
I do keep it tidy down there, but I know there will come a point when I wont be able to see to do it lol
tbh I dont think I will be bothered, I dont see anyone commenting on the fact that I havent shaved when an baby is coming out of there, so I'm not worried about being embarrassed. just wanted to know how everyone else fels about it and also is it safe to get waxed when you are so far along?

noooooooooooooo

25bottles · 09/02/2017 09:59

Wow I'm gunna ask my mum. That's crazy.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/02/2017 10:01

No. I did cut my toenails though (to make it nicer for the doctor, of course).

Scaredycat3000 · 09/02/2017 10:09

I wouldn't do it for labour, but given things are a bit swollen after and you're rather busy with a your newborn, I personally take it all off before labour. I have thick pubes that catch the locia. Clean up is much easier and quicker when I'm not picking lumps of dried blood out of my pubes whilst my newborn wants a feed.
I don't think MWs or DRs care.

averylongtimeago · 09/02/2017 10:09

Wow Shatners! You could reach your toenails! Iirc my feet were a distant memory by that point

FearTheLiving · 09/02/2017 10:12

I didn't with my first but did with my second. I felt really unclean with my first.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/02/2017 10:15

Yes, I could easily reach my toes! I have short legs Grin

Gooseygoosey12345 · 09/02/2017 10:21

I'd normally take it all off but definitely had an 80s bush for childbirth. I couldn't see it so couldn't shave if I wanted to. The midwives have seen it all before so I really wasn't bothered

bobbis · 09/02/2017 15:11

Didn't bother with my first. 33 weeks with this one and it's becoming a gymnastic event to do it already Blush
Pretty sure the midwives etc don't care, and your dignity goes out the window in labour pregnancy anyway!
Sod getting waxed right now, ouch!

kikibo · 09/02/2017 15:19

I haven't done anything to mine since November (or should that be Movember in my case, lol) as I couldn't be bothered because I felt like crap.

I won't from here on anymore either, because I felt sooooooooooo much less naked in the gynaecologist's chair for that vaginal ultrasound. Hair is like a long shirt, it covers things up a bit and it makes me at least feel less uncomfortable. Anyway, he still knew where to stick his stuff, (haha, sounds rude a bit, doesn't it?) so he won't find it a problem.

fruityb · 09/02/2017 19:23

Lol Hollywood! They just didn't do anything with me. I did manage to paint my toenails hilariously.

SquedgieBeckenheim · 09/02/2017 19:29

I didn't even have time to think about it last time given DD was premature.
I'm now 34 weeks wth DD2, and haven't been able to get to the area for weeks. DH has offered to shave for me, but I don't feel comfortable with that. So I will be au naturel for the birth and for some time after. I'm not really bothered, and I doubt the midwife will be either!

DianaMemorialJam · 09/02/2017 19:30

fruity I think I may just be particularly hairy Blush

Missmiller · 09/02/2017 20:16

no! I had one prem baby and one couple of weeks early so not even a trim, who cares anyway, the midwives and doctors don't!

LamppostInWinter · 09/02/2017 20:19

I did, and was very glad I did as prepping for an EMCS the midwife said 'ooh good, nice and tidy, we won't have to shave' Grin

If there'd have been shaving between me and that spinal block she'd have lost an eye (was in active labour).

Chrisinthemorning · 09/02/2017 20:22

I had to get DH to help me immac my bikini line (bump in the way!) the day before my CS. I have a very neat low hidden scar though so it was worth it.
I would in case you have to have a CS.

fruityb · 09/02/2017 21:29

diana oh believe me when bump deflated and I could see it all again I was missing for about half an hour while I practically mowed it back!!

DianaMemorialJam · 09/02/2017 22:55

Mowed it 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2017 23:41

Waxed regually before preg

Plan to go next week or week after. Currently 33w

Toes are always done anyway tho havnt seen or been able to do them so a lady gel paints them

Also means don't need to do a thing after the birth 😬😬

FartnissEverbeans · 10/02/2017 05:46

Ha no

Raisinbrain · 10/02/2017 05:51

Haha! No. Last thing on my mind.

Whatasmashingpumpkin · 10/02/2017 05:59

I got DH to trim it with mini clippers last time as I got a bit weird about getting stuff caught in the hair and so I thought it best that it was nice and short! He did my toenails too (red with red glitter!) and the midwives all commented on how nice they were Grin
This time I've got one of those new veet lady trimmer things and have been moving it with that, it feels a bit nicer down there trimmed as I've had a bit of swelling with this pregnancy!

phoebe2016 · 10/02/2017 06:13

I wouldn't do it just specifically for labour, i do it once or twice a week for myself anyway. When it gets to the stage that I can't see properly, i will use a mirror to assist! Lol

nooka · 10/02/2017 06:28

I had an emergency c-section with ds and had the bikini line shaved by a registrar before going into theatre. I found it unpleasant (dry bic) and a bit humiliating so when dd was due and a c-section was a possibility I made sure I did it properly. Had a nicer scar the first time though. I don't believe the quality of hair removal had anything to do with the skill of the surgeon.

Raines100 · 10/02/2017 06:36

I maintained my normal shaving and toenail care routine throughout my pregnancies. Would have totally given up if I'd got to the point where I couldn't reach, but it never happened. Maybe I have freakishly long arms? Grin
