...did it start very early on in your pregnancy (if you can remember that is)?
Or did it kick in with a vengeance later on?
Just wondering if there is a correlation between severity and onset - hope I am making sense!

I found hard cheese the worst thing to puke up. When you've chewed it, you're really just remoulding it, and it comes up hard and stinky and sticks in your nose and the back of your oesophagus.

Had constant nausea from a few days after conception to 12 weeks with DC2. We were living in Germany and I would get up, make cheerios for DD1 and then switched on the tele until lunch time. Made her lunch then switched on tele until tea! I did that for a good few weeks pretty much - only going out to shop if absolutely necessary. After a month it eased off a bit but carried Lucozade in my bag and sipped it constantly. Also ate walkers salt and vinegar all the time (3/4 bags a day) and that got me through! When DD spent all that time watching tele, it was always the same My Little Pony video (over and over again). The other day DS2 found it at the back of video cupboard and pushed it in the player. I had a sudden wave of nausea wash over me and I pulled it out and have hidden it upstairs! It's funny - I have similar flashbacks when I smell gin, Southern Comfort and Snapps!!! - didn't drink them whilst pregnant though.

Piffle and others - gosh its good to hear that you can have hyperemesis with dc1 and maybe not get it in subsequent pregnancies! i had hyperemesis for 5 months with my ds and it has rather put me off having the large brood i was hoping for.. but maybe there is hope!

oh just re-read your thread Piffle and maybe its not such good news.. ah well!

I had awful morning sickness (all-day sickness). Im sure I had hyperemesis because on the worst week, I was throwing up water, so I couldnt even drink, let alone eat. My urine was brown from dehydration. WHen I finally got strength for DH to take me to the surgery (by then I was gagging on air because there was really nothing left to throw up) Doctors told me it was normal
ANyhow...
It started on week 6, peaked at around week 9, and cleared up miraculously at around 13 weeks. Coke helped for some reason. I couldn`t drink water, but I could manage coke.
LOL at your flashbacks Luciemule (especially southern comfort...)
