Did anyone only have the 12&20 week scans?

I keep reading about everyone getting growth scans or other additional scans in the third trimester and most of my friends have had similar. I am 30 weeks and have only been offered the 12 & 20 week scans and that's it. My pregnancy is low-risk (obviously a good thing!) so I guess that's why, but 20 weeks between the last scan and the birth feels like a very long time! I wondered if you can request an extra scan or are they only for certain medical conditions?

I'd really rather not have to be down for growth scans through third trimester thanks to a tiny tiny risk of exposure to Zika.

Half a day every four weeks to trek to hospital and back.

Please just be thankful your pregnancy is low risk. Midwife will listen to heartbeat

Thanks everyone for your responses. I didn't mention it in my first post but this won't be my first baby so I do know how the system works generally, it's just that during my last pregnancy I didn't hear so much about people getting third trimester scans as I have lately. Maybe it's just where I live.

I do hear the heartbeat every midwife appointment, which is lovely, I just wondered really if later scans were becoming more 'routine'.

Many areas have adopted the GAP protocol in order to identify problems in growth and ultimately reduce the risk of stillbirth. In my area women are offered extra scans if they have a higher BMI, smoke and have high CO readings, or have had previous small babies. If the woman's fundal height measurements indicate problems then growth scans are offered then too.

I've only had the two scans, and I'm happy with this. More monitoring leads to more intervention IMO xx
