Here it is! Roll up all those who want to halt the decline!

Right, I'll kick off. I am 30 weeks pg with second baby. Started off by losing weight until about 20 weeks (due to bad ms) and since then have been like a pig, eating whatever I like, always treating myself to cake etc. I can't bear to be left with loads of weight to lose like last time (as it did get me down). So, want to curb my eating habits now and just eat healthily and avoid piling on too much (MORE) unecessary flab.

haven't got a CLUE what I weigh (thank God) but I am 5"6 and my prpreg weight was nine stone.

Right, next confession!

welcome, Blossomgirl and hello to everyone else
I have developed a constantly full, indigestion-type, sick feeling since Friday. Can't eat much without feelign awful. Didn't really get this last time but dh says common in late preg. Anyone else suffering?

I've got that too. Weird. Oh, hang on a minute, could it be the (Eyelash, this will make you feel better) six chocolate digestives and two packets of crisps I've had today. UNBELIEVABLE. Am now mainlining antacids. What am I like? I'm going to watch the 17 and a half stone woman having a diet makeover on c4 at 8.30. In fact, it was reading about her eating 10 packets of crisps a day that made me think 'Hmmm. Crisps'. Haven't hurled myself off the wagon like this for a while now.

vivie · 05/07/2004 00:10

I think I need to join in here. I'm 20 weeks pg and I have a ds aged 19 months and I was doing okay today until this afternoon when I had a large caramel flapjack with a coffee, then had pizza AND garlic bread for tea. This is not an unusual pattern - I'm fine until my will power runs out as the day goes on. I'm going to try to get on here before I have my lunch in the hope that you will inspire me to be good!
I was about 10 stone before I got pg this time, which is about 1/2 stone heavier than when I got pg with ds. Not sure how much I am now, but I was over 13 stone when ds was born and I felt awful about it.

Toots - I def felt better reading your message . I watched the programme too - but too extreme and that woman (Dr ?) had such an irritating voice.

I have not actually been too bad since Friday and find my daily walk is really helping me sleep at night. I have only done a short one today but back to half hour tomorrow night. I am still having a daily nibble but overall am pretty conscientious. Better obviously for baby and me.

I so want to do this for the next 13 - 15 weeks and keep telling myself that it will make all the difference afterwards.

Great btw to have such an active thread.

Toots · 05/07/2004 12:01

Eyelash - agree eating plan was extreme. But I got excited by the table of good foods, not the bad, so perhaps there's hope for me. And she did look rather wonderful - if a little over made up - at the end.

I too am managing a good walk up to three times a week. Got a pregnancy fitness vid in a charity shop yesterday, but can't watch it this week as have decorators in. Is that poor excuse? Might do it tonight when dd hits the hay. Just had breakfast part one. muesli with pumpkin seeds and a peach. Now going to have two small slices of organic brown bloomer with blueberry jam (jam not so good). Feel like character in play I saw on Friday 'I start the day as Mary Poppins, and end it as Cruella De Ville'

Nimme · 05/07/2004 13:06

Toots - sounds just like me. Good breakfast, good lunch (even if two of them!) then I get very peckish in the afternoon.

If I eat dinner with DD at 5pm'ish I'm okay and can get through evening by snacking on healthy stuff.
Otherwise it is a slippery slope that starts with an apple, then a youghurt - by now I am bored of healthy stuff and want some carbs - NOW. Tried pita bread dipped in taramasalata - okay but it's not crisps or nuts or such lovely salty things. I am eating strawberries, cherries, grapes like they are going out of fashion....

I am realising that by the end of this I'll have a stone to lose (like last time boohoo.........)

Bibiboo · 05/07/2004 13:42

Is telling everyone what you eat like therapy? Here goes ... My usual day consists of:

*coco-pops for breakfast with skimmed milk (to balance out the crap in the cereal)
*yoghurt (fat free) and apple for mid-morning snack, sometimes a scone too
*usually cheese salad roll with scampi and lemon nik naks

  • veggi chilli/ spag bol/ curry whatever for tea *at least 1 more bowl of coco-pops and either 3 choc digestives or a small bar of chocolate before bed

Is this terrible?

dinny · 06/07/2004 00:20

Mmmm, Bibiboo, I LOVE CocoPops sooooo much. Plan to have them as my post-giving-birth snack - if I have a homebirth.

This woman at the gym said to me today that I will never last another 8 weeks as am massive now! Thanks sooo much!!! I kidded myself that it's only slim people who look like they have huge bumps. Ha ha = how pathetic Had jst swum 70 lengths so was feeling v pleased with self until that ruined it.

I have been OK oday, foodwise - breakfast - 1 bit multigrain toast w. jam, an orange, decaff coffee
lunch - cauliflower cheese and some watercress mid-afternoon - half piece Starbucks carrot cake and OJ. tonight - cheese omlette and salad, melon, glass white wine, am about to have an ice lolly (my addiction).

I am getting excited that I can start dieting soon!!! May join WW to be inspired - or maybe we can do a thread on here for motivation..... D xx

dinny about your house sale falling through but at least now you know where you will be in the coming months - or maybe a miracle will happen and you will complete inthe next few days.

Well crunch time for me. Off to freinds for 3 days - she's a great cook, lovely meals, desserts etc so need to really watch myself. I am taking trainers so will continue my walks.

Neighbour has seen me striding out in the evenings and asked me if she can join me every evening so a bit of motivation there to keep it going. I must say I really love the walks as it gives me a chance to have a breather and I am sleeping really well. I can also feel the benefit in my tummy.

DH thinks this is weird but I found this great website where people post pictures of their ultrasounds and more interestingly their tums - very addictive pregnancy tums Happy viewing (or am I just weird!)

Turtle35 · 10/07/2004 19:05

Eyelash thanks for the website on pg tums, made me feel a little bit better think mine seems to be about right for 24 weeks. Did you check out the 40 week tums!! How frightening.

Today I had some muesli, two oranges, a plum, an apricot, 2 ginger buiscuits and a small bag of crips. Two slices of toast with cheese on top. Am starving still. Going for a walk now to try and get a little exercise. Feel that eating more fruit than junk makes it better

eyelash · 11/07/2004 11:39

Hello all

Weekend in terms of food wasn't great but not too bad. Back to normal today but the good thing is the feeling in control about it all.

Turtle35 - glad you liked the website. My friend had some pictures of me when I was pregnant with ds2 at this stage and I look about the same so that made me feel a little bit better.

I have had banana on toast this morning, but have lunchtime meeting 150 miles away so have packed some fruit and hope to get something at the services. This is my last long car journey until baby arrives thank god, especially as we covered nearly 300 miles yesterday just getting home from the weekend.

Hope you all have a good day.

dinny · 11/07/2004 23:26

Yes, pregnant tum site reassuring on the whole - are a few too skinny bellies there in places though

My friend said today (haven't seen her for a fortnight) she can't believe how huge I am and I simply can't get any bigger. V depressing. Why am I so massive?

a quick hi .

Thanks again for this thread everyone, its been in the back of my mind as i've been tying to turn the corner back to proper healthy eating. Blessed by a unique craving for vegetables at the mo, blend me up a tin of toms with celery anyday! With a straw naturally.

Popped up too to say i've cut out meat 100% from my diet and am certain this is behind these happier healthier days at the mo. Was veg forever before weeks 12-28, anyone else had this sort of relationship with meat?

Been going to pregnancy yoga classes, just like that fab bump website, only live! Have found to that its helped me be more comfortable with my pregnant body too. Big yes, but Dinny hon we're not huge, we're LUSH!! x blossom

dinny · 16/07/2004 14:05

I've had cravings for celery, carrots lately. And have been obsessed by watercress for 5 months now - am on about a bag a day! Mmmmmm.

How's everyone else doing? I hate all my preg clothes now - keep wearing the same boring denim skirt and black top to work all the time. Everythign else makes me look mammoth!

OP posts:
eyelash · 16/07/2004 20:44

hello all. Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Walking still going well but slipping on sweet food although eating healthily overall.

Must get back on the wagon again.

dinny · 16/07/2004 20:52

Hi, Eyelash.

Guess what? After being told by countless people how big my bump is, midwife said at antenatal last week that I am measuring slightly less than average for dates!!!!??? DH says it's cos I normally fool people into thinking I am tall by being slim (a lifetime ago) and wearing heels (ditto!). So when preg there is nowhere for it to go except out and up.

I prefer that scenario to the truth - I have put on about 3 stone, I reckon!!! ARGH!
