How long before your due date are you finishing work?

How long before you are due is everyone finishing work? And what are your reasons? I was thinking of taking 2 weeks holiday before and starting my maternity leave on my due date but now I'm wondering whether two weeks is enough 🤔

I'm using holiday from 38 weeks and mat leave starts officially on my due date.

You won't typically loose unused holiday because of an early birth. Its impossible if you taking off less than a year and if you are planning a full year then speak to your HR and get something in writing for peace of mind.

My job is an office job with a reasonable commute. I like still going into work to be honest so I'll do so unless something changes dramatically.

Also, I've already got the house / nursery 100% set up (I'm almost 37 weeks) so I don't have a lot of 'nesting' to do if I left super early. I'm not a procrastinator though!

Finishing up at 35+3, but only because I work in a team that will be delivering a national event for 2000 people the next again week and I'll be as much use to them as a chocolate teapot by that point! Also looks like I'll be having a section at 39 weeks so should only have 3 weeks hanging around, and it'll by June/July and I struggle with the heat anyway...

I finished at 37 weeks last time and really struggled with the last couple of weeks. I was bored out of my mind for the 2 weeks I was stuck at home before DD was born. Finished at 37 weeks again this time and could easily have done at least another week, but I'm part time and have been doing project work which is less draining than day job.

I am due 1st July and I plan to work from home from the beginning of June to cut out the 1hr commute to work. I have a desk job behind a computer all day so the most stressful part really is the commute itself. I will take the last week of June off to hopefully sit on arse and do absolutely nothingGrin! I am very good at doing lazy. Maternity leave will start on my due date.

I think baby will be late going by all my friends but then my baby could have other ideas and arrive way before due date. Then my little plan will go out the window.

Due in May but leaving work at 34 weeks as taking all my annual leave in one chunk before maternity leave.

I'm due 17 March and finishing work on 3 March. Taking holiday and then starting mat leave the day before my due date

I would like to work until as late as possible though I'm afraid I won't make it. I finished week 36 with my first and he was born week 37 but the weeks rest was great!

I'm in Italy and it is compulsory to work no later than 36 weeks. Normally women here can have 2 months before and 3 months after. (Standard) Although most companies give woman the full 9 months after with full pay.

Apparently I need to get a letter from my doctor to declare me fit enough to work for the last month but as far as I am aware it is also normal for doctors to sign off high risk pregnancies earlier if the mother wants to. I have some work projects coming up that I would need to work at least until my 36 weeks but the weather starts to get a lot warmer then and I already have to wear stockings for varicose veins. I am not sure I'd get much done working at home Grin I think I would go completely insane if I finished too early.

I am finishing at 30 weeks. But i'm a mental health nursing student and that's the way the time tables work, otherwise i would be doing half a module and when i work i work in mental health as a support worker, and i am exhausted from the long days and always feeling a little bit at edge at work.

I started maternity leave 4 weeks before due date. I actually brought it forward because I thought it was too mentally and physically draining at work (I'm a primary school teacher).

I think it depends on your job though..2 weeks might be enough for you. Depends on how much rest you want and whether you need to get much ready. You'll be surprised how you ploughed through when you finish though. All I did today was nap and watch tv! It was fab👍🏽 Good luck deciding NewMum26. Nice username 😜😂
