Flu Jab

Hi all

looking for some opinions i am 15weeks asthmatic and suffering from a viral infection with a terrible cough for the last 5weeks i have my asthma check next week and i know they are going to advise the flu jab

What are your thoughts?

AS far as I knew, asthmatics were advised to have flu jab anyway.

I'm not asthmatic, but don't fancy pneumonia much if I can help it so had the flu jab. In November.

I had it it was absolutely fine.

I had mine last week and had it with DS. Well worth doing, especially if you are asthmatic/

I had mine back in November. All has been fine and baby is fine.

I've had mine in both pregnancies. Didn't even get a sore arm - it's a doddle.

I had mine at my 20 week scan appointment.

I'm 16weeks but had mine the day before I found out I was pregnant (I get invited due to very mild heart condition I had diagnosed at birth which has never caused me any problems but I would have had the flu jab anyway) I had no problems what so ever.

I am 24 weeks, haven't had a flu jab... big mistake! I am off work with the flu and I have felt like death. Medication is limited due to pregnancy and I'm constantly monitoring my temperature in case it stays too high for too long. Can't breathe, feel so weak and my head is sure to explode at some point with the pressure and pain.

It's been about a week, so easing off now but I highly recommend you get the injection!

Im 25 weeks and have my flu jab next week, was supposed to have it today with my whooping cough jab but they said because the whooping cough one makes the arm hurt so bad its best to keep it separate. I asked the nurse today if i HAD to have the flu jab because every time i have it i end up poorly and flu season is over now anyway, she said it would be really silly not to have the jab as even if i got poorly but it wasnt the flu, the baby would be protected. Im also asthmatic and am normally nagged by every doctor to have the jab even before i got pregnant, but never do have it because it makes me ill. I think if we're advised to have it before pregnancy because of the asthma, its a good idea to have it now x

No, flu season is not over, what an odd thing to say in the middle of winter!

Nhs says: "You can catch flu – short for influenza – all year round, but it's especially common in winter, which is why it's also known as 'seasonal flu'."

(NB I currently have the flu and am aware of a number of people locally, thanks to the gossip at the Dr surgery, who also have it)

What is the issue? I had mine today. I'm still alive, albeit with a sore arm.

i had mine in november at about 6 weeks, don't understand why you'd wait til now.

As for flu season being over, three wards at our hospital are shut because of flu

It hadn't been mentioned by my dr until now i'm due at the asthma clinic and i assumed as the dr hadn't mentioned it then it must not of been allowed, im a first time mum to be so wasn't sure it's not like i've put it off on purpose

I was offered it today by my nurse when she was taking bloods for other non-pregnancy reasons. I'm 7+1 today and she was really enthusiastic I read the leaflet she gave me. Left feeling really positive. Hoping I can have it at my booking appointment next Friday as I currently have 2 colleagues off in my team with flu like symptoms. Eek!!

The flu jab does not cause flu or flu like symptoms. It's proven to be scientifically impossible because the vaccine contains a dead strain of the virus.

Anyone who thinks it makes them ill is just picking up other colds etc coincidentally.
