Scared about things going wrong & first appointment

Stupid me reading a thread about missed miscarriages, I know these things happen and they're so so awful, and I can't stop worrying that something is wrong. My heart goes out to anybody who has experienced a miscarriage of any kind. I'm 12 weeks today but symptoms started waning about 3 weeks ago - no sickness or nausea, and no cravings really. Still feeling extremely tired and bloated though, but that's all. I'm just so worried.

I have my first midwife appointment on Wednesday and from they're I'm assuming they'll book my first scan, any idea when it'll be? I'm hoping not too long. Sorry, just looking for a little reassurance. Has anybody else been incredibly worried then everything turned out okay?

Step away from those threads!! Between 8 and 12 weeks the placenta begins to take over supplying nutrients to the foetus which can explain why your symptoms started waning around then. Don't worry about a lack of symptoms, lots of people don't have many symptoms, myself included and have perfectly healthy babies.

Your first midwife appointment is a booking in appointment, it's just a lot of form filling and taking bloods. Usually it's done around 8-10 weeks. You should have your 12 week scan soon though. If you haven't got a date for it yet I'd give your midwives a call. It needs to be done between 11 and 13 weeks in order for them to do the measurements for testing. Hospitals can be a bit slow about organising these things and so it's worth chasing up with them to ensure you get a date asap. The good news is though you should get to see your baby for the first time soon!

Yes try not to read into everything so much. The reality is MC our out of our control and they can happen. But symptoms throughout pregnancy vary quite significantly and there is nothing really obvious to suggest your would be a MC.

So be positive (which I think helps a lot regardless) and take it step by step. Best of luck.
