Bump measurement v ultra sound

Hi there
I'm slightly concerned after a scan this morning, am 34 +5 weeks, and would be keen to hear others' thoughts and experiences!
Up until last week my bump measurements at every midwife appointment were very much on the small sign - teetering on the 10th percentile line. Last week another MW measured me and found my bump had increased a bit so I was on the the 50th percentile. The MW said I shouldn't worry and it was probably good that the baby was a bit bigger now but booked me in for a scan. The scan today has shown the baby is HUGE.
It is now in the 97th percentile!
Obviously I'm a bit concerned by this sudden jump from tenth to 97th in just a few weeks!
There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with baby - it's just big! I'm very much on the small side but husband is 6ft 3 and his father is 6ft 6.
I am being tested for gestational diabetes later this week - although I haven't really had any symptoms. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced such rapid growth and what caused it?. Could it be a miscalculation or could late onset gestational diabetes do this? Prior to Christmas I was working long days, running around a lot and probably not eating masses. Then I got a horrible cold and did very little exercise for a few weeks and probably ate a few too many sweet things while recovering over Christmas - could this be the reason? My bump still doesn't look really big now though and many people at work have only just realised I'm pregnant! x

My friend had this happen, she was measuring small so was sent to the hospital for a scan and then told she was having a big baby. No gestational diabetes, baby was born at 8lbs 6 instead of the projected 9-10lbs.

Everyone carries differently, if you have a long body the bump can be smaller and dependent on how the baby is sitting. some babies curl right up in the centre of your body.

They are comparing 2 different ways of measuring - one of which doesn't actually correspond with the size of the baby just the way you're carrying. So really it doesn't mean the baby has had a massive growth spurt it could have always been on the bigger side - it's just your bump isn't, which is purely down to the way you carry/ or the way the baby is lying. I wouldn't worry about a 'sudden change'. Flowers

I had growth scans every week for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy due to GD. Week 1 said baby was 10th centile, weeks 2 said baby was 90th, week 3 said 10th and week 4 said 90th. All different sonographers.

DD was on the 50th centile when she was born. So each scan I had was quite far out The scans can be quite inaccurate so don't panic too much.
