Hi there
I'm slightly concerned after a scan this morning, am 34 +5 weeks, and would be keen to hear others' thoughts and experiences!
Up until last week my bump measurements at every midwife appointment were very much on the small sign - teetering on the 10th percentile line. Last week another MW measured me and found my bump had increased a bit so I was on the the 50th percentile. The MW said I shouldn't worry and it was probably good that the baby was a bit bigger now but booked me in for a scan. The scan today has shown the baby is HUGE.
It is now in the 97th percentile!
Obviously I'm a bit concerned by this sudden jump from tenth to 97th in just a few weeks!
There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with baby - it's just big! I'm very much on the small side but husband is 6ft 3 and his father is 6ft 6.
I am being tested for gestational diabetes later this week - although I haven't really had any symptoms. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced such rapid growth and what caused it?. Could it be a miscalculation or could late onset gestational diabetes do this? Prior to Christmas I was working long days, running around a lot and probably not eating masses. Then I got a horrible cold and did very little exercise for a few weeks and probably ate a few too many sweet things while recovering over Christmas - could this be the reason? My bump still doesn't look really big now though and many people at work have only just realised I'm pregnant! x
