Heartburn. Omg the heartburn....

It's awful. I have taken two ranitidine (over the counter ones) and gigged some gaviscon advance. I had cereal and milk instead of dinner, drank water. I have barely slept for three nights, and ds gets up at 4.30 so scuppers the hours where I might manage to sleep.

What else can I do? Nearly 37 weeks.......

Haha at 37 weeks there's no mistaking it! I got it off the shelf and went to pay at the counter, same as the ranitidine. They checked the leaflet. They also checked the gaviscon advance!

Another recommendation for omeprazole here. Before I was sleeping upright and every time I bent over I would get a mouth full of bile. Just horrific and constant heartburn and acid reflux.

Mine is the worst it's ever been tonight, 39 weeks 😔

I didn't know what heartburn was till someone set me on fire 2 weeks ago or at least it felt like it- The pain!!!!

Called my GP prescribed for omeprazole and papact (gaviscon) and now I never go anywhere without the bottle. But seriously get the omeprazol it's the best!

36 weeks here and have been awake most of the night with it for 3 days. It's just miserable!!

Sparrowlegs248 · 13/01/2017 09:23

Saw the mw yesterday. Not helpful. Asked about omeprazole, she said speak to Dr today.

I did eat last night, chicken thigh roasted with chorizo, onion and new potatoes, veg. Expected a bad night but took two ranitidine and some gaviscon and was actually OK.

GP is your best bet. Omperrazol can take a few days to feel the full benefit so stick with it even if you feel it's not working, just keep taking t daily and it will help with the acid.

Need to get to your GP, I just called my surgery and spoke with the receptionist, explained the situation and what i needed. Prescription was waiting on me an hour later. Give them a call it's worth it! Plus you will get the gaviscon equivalent on prescription too, saved a fortune as I go through it like water!

I found milky hot chocolate soothing when I suffered with the same.

Not long now!

I'm 24 weeks and I've suffered from heartburn before pregnant but realised things that make it worse at bed time. I have to go to bed on a full stomach - I've been taking a tablet before bed and If I'm waking up with just a bit of it sucking on a sugar free (hopefully this will save my teeth) polo while I go back to sleep as really helped. I'm not sure if placebo effect or what but it's better than nothing. This last week I've been much better cos been going to bed full - literally having a late dinner and bed, it's when my stomach is empty I'm getting it! Hope this may help

Sparrowlegs248 · 13/01/2017 10:04

Kshaw I'm.the opposite. We tend to eat late and I am in bed early and that's far worse. The nights I've not eaten dinner I've nor had a problem other than hunger!
