Not felt baby for over an hour?

Hello,
I am 24+5. I have started kick counting and to be honest it is taking over my life. I've never been pregnant before and I'm obsessed with the idea that she is going to be still born. What would be reduced movements? If I went to the hospital every time I felt she hadn't moved in a while I would be there all day every day! When should I realistically worry? After an hour of no movement? Half an hour? I've already been up the hospital once this week and was tempted to go again yesterday but she perked up a bit in the evening.

OP - it might be worth you having a chat with your midwife or GP about your anxiety over movements.

You really needn't panic after twenty minutes of no movement. You must be in a constant state of panic which is awful for you.

Even after a few hours of not noticing any movements I don't panic about it. I just take it as a prompt to sit/lie quietly for a little while and will then be reassured by feeling movement. Yesterday I was rushing around to go out for the day and then drove for three hours then was working playing my flute (baby always goes quiet when I play the flute!). It meant that at 1pm I hadn't felt any movement yet. The minute I sat down and I stopped moving the baby started wriggling around. At no point was I worried, just aware that I had been on the go all day and did look forward to sitting down so my baby could say hello for the first time that day!

Try to relax a bit about it. It's useful to be vaguely aware of what's going on but you're causing yourself stress by taking the kicks counting advice too literally.

Can't believe the horrendous misinformation on this thread! If in doubt contact your midwife. They will never think you are being silly or over reacting. Follow count the kicks and they have all you need to know. I sympathise. I was exactly the same Flowers

I wad panicky like you OP - I think I just couldn't believe I was finally going to have a baby and was always thinking the worst. I once had 3 scans in 2 weeks 😳. One for not enough movement and one for too much... on the screen, my now 15mo ds was moving very well and I couldn't feel it.... if you are worried of course you should contact your midwife. But I'm glad you've deleted the app. Another tip - don't download a bfing app either. Nor bloody Wonder Weeks.

Too much movement? Oh gosh. I hadn't even considered that. It really never ends. Just can't wait for her to be in my arms so I can see she is ok.

Kelsey, my obstetrician tried really hard (and failed) not to laugh at me. She was really lovely though. Totally appreciated my panic. Turns out my now 15mo ds liked kicking so much he continued in that kind of activity non stop for the rest of my pregnancy and even during labour, ad I'm pushing hin out, my dh could still see him kicking.😷😂
