What the Jeff is this rash?!?

So I am 5+5 with DC2

Been a bit itchy on my skin today, thought nothing of it until I got changed tonight and I am covered in this weird, red, itchy rash! It looks like an allergic reaction, but it's on my boobs, stomach, arms and thighs

Anyone else had this?!? Anything I can do for it??

I think it's best to seek proper medical advice. Walk in clinic or speak to a pharmacist?

I agree with Jodie. there's something ringing a bell about rashes in pg need to be checked just in case it's something to do with liver. I'm sure it's fine but best to check

It doesn't sound like the liver condition of cholestasis in pregnancy but you should see a gp if only to get some emollient cream

Cholestasis happens in the last trimester so it's too early for that, I hope you get some relief from it

See the Dr. My daughter had this in pregnancy and it drove her mad. She couldn't sleep and scratched until she bled. It's not dangerous but very disturbing.

Thanks all, went to the pharmacist today and got some cream, it's still driving me mad though!

Try Eurax cream and anti histamine. Poor you.

It looks like hives (google hives in pregnancy). It isn't uncommon, but it is unpleasant. A friend had them when pregnant, and I got them every time I breastfed as I was allergic to the hormone that is released when milk is let down. Not fun. See your GP fr a proper diagnosis.

Oh that looks like PUPPPs. I'm so sorry, it's horrid, I had it for the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy with DD. Coconut oil eases it a little, doctor will prescribe a low dose steroid cream but I was too anxious to use that.

Looks like a PUPPPS rash. I had this for most of my first pregnancy. It was awful. I scratched until I bled and all my gp would offer me was Calamine lotion (which didn't work). I finally discovered late on in the pregnancy that the only thing that worked was Snake Brand Prickly Heat Cooling Powder which back in my day had to be purchased by my parents who happened to be in HongKong.....Now you can get it on Amazon.

Thanks again for new replies, it's absolutely horrific! They just gave me a cream, which helps for about 5 minutes but then it moves and the itch is somewhere else!!

It's all over my body, so miserable. Will book in with GP after Xmas, and will have a look on Amazon for the cream

Definitely looks like PUPPs. You have my every sympathy, I had it for the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy and it actually got worse once ds was born. Slather on e45 cream and see if the doctor will prescribe some piriton. I hope it eases up for you when the hormones balance out.

I've read up PUPPPS and it looks the most likely. Can I bear 34 more weeks of this?!?!

Just a warning, my doctor had never heard of it and neither had half of the midwives I came across in hospital (I was in for 10 days after ds was born) so it might be worth printing out some info and taking it with you. Fortunately there is a gp at our surgery who specialises in skin conditions and he identified it straight away. Best of luck, I really feel for you! I found the cold helped too, I put wet flannels in the freezer and draped them on me and took cool showers. Ds was born in June though, less fun in December! X

Eurax cream is a god send for itchy rashes!!! It takes the itch away almost instantly. I had a tazh that looked like this last year it was very very itch to the point of scratch so much I'd bleed and not feel it due to it itching so much. Horrible. Eurax was the only thing that took it away.

Yes, mine was before the days of the internet and it took several months of visits to the GP and midwife before it was diagnosed. My stupid gp kept congratulating me on not having swollen ankles as I puked and scratched my way through my pregnancy. Never mind that they could get together a genetic test for Sickle Cell but looked at me cross eyed when I asked for a test for Taysachs. Note, I am jewish and NOT african (or anything else high risk for Sickle Cell).

Gosh that looks miserable. try oatmeal in muslin in bath maybe?
