Leaking waters at 36 weeks??

Been having strong Braxton hicks the last few days and tons of pressure in the pelvic area, stabbing pains around the bladder and cervix etc. On Saturday night I had a wee leak that soaked a pantyliner, looked like clear water and didn't smell of urine so don't think it was that. Today I've had a few small amounts of the same watery stuff but it's not been as much as saturday night.

I know waters can trickle out over a few hours / days, is there a chance this is a gradual leak of waters or am I being paranoid now I'm getting closer to my due date?

It could be your waters have gone. It could be urine from the pressure/weakness in your pelvic floor muscles . If it's the first you need to be checked out as once your waters have begun to break there is a risk of serious infection to your baby.
Please ring your maternity unit asap for advice as it sounds like it's been more than 24 hrs since the first liquid.

Put on a clean maternity pad and lie down for an hour. If when you stand up you get a gush and wet the pad it could be. If you do phone the maternity helpline for your hospital, they can check you. At 36 weeks your baby is almost full term so try not to worry. My ds was born at 34 weeks and was fine, no scbu stay needed.

My waters went at 35w6d, labour started shortly thereafter and baby totally fine. However the hospital has already put me on antibiotics even before labour started because of the infection risk - you should really get checked out asap for this reason.

Have called mau and heading down to get checked, they said it might be waters and it might not be but better to get it checked out. Is it even possible to leak waters if you haven't had a show at all?? First baby so I'm clueless about this...

Yes very possible to have waters without show- happened for ds. With dd went into labour at 35+6 spontaneously. Dd is and was fine other than slightly jaundice for a few days so don't worry about being bit early. Hope all is well

I had a couple of leaks at 34 wks, thought it was urine then got a gush a day or so later which was definitely my waters breaking, my DD was born a week later.

Good that you're getting it checked out! I stupidly waited 3 days before going in as I thought I was leaking urine. My waters were still in tact but were leaking from quite high up. Because of the time that had passed they gave me antibiotics and induced immediately.

My waters went completely unexpectedly at 35+5. Labour started 12 hours later.

Mau midwives were fab, they kept me in for a while to keep an eye I showed them my maternity pad and they said it wasnt waters, just a very very watery discharge Blush and apparently is normal in the last few weeks of pregnancy

I'm relieved as I didnt know about the serious infection risk so I was worried incase it had been waters coming gradually!

That's good news! From what I've read the infection risk is higher if your waters go properly. If they're just leaking the risk seems to be lower, but I think then many hospitals choose to give antibiotics and induce to be on the safe side.
