Good morning ladies
I just have a question regarding anxiety in pregnancy.
I'm expecting my first child and in my first trimester, I've had to come off citalopram (antidepressant) as it is unsafe, the first two weeks were awful, I now feeling calmer but anxiety still here.
The GP said I can go on sertraline (another antidepressant) if it gets out of hand.
My question is, am I likely to get more anxious as the pregnancy progresses or less anxious. Which trimester was the most anxious for you and why?
Thank you

It's hard to say as I didn't have an actual anxiety related condition IYSWIM. Different stages were higher in anxiety for different reasons. I found I was more emotional in the last tri as I was bloody knackered, achey, and unwell from having to take insulin, plus I gave up work at 30 weeks so was a bit lonely/bored. It was my 3rd child so I became a bit worried about what would happen if dh wasn't there any more and I was very concerned about my elective section under local anaesthetic.
I think if you have a tendency to be more anxious then you need to be kind to yourself and recognise the signs, keep regular contact with your gp and HV and don't let things escalate.
Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope it goes well Flowers

It's difficult to judge to be honest. It completely depends on your triggers, I had anxiety pre pregnancy but managed it through exercise and relaxation, Mine increased throughout pregnancy due to complications and now 18 months post birth I am having to have CBT and counselling as it's just got worse and worse. For me the stress of the complications triggered mine, and post birth it is anxiety relating to my daughter, and constant worry about her.

The risk from any SSRI is minimal and there is far greater risk from stress caused by coming off them!
