Hi - first post from me, I am desperate for someone to talk to. 5.5 weeks and I had been feeling rubbish up to yesterday - no symptoms now, except period pain (constant). This is my first pg and I am petrified that it might be over already...

Stay calm - it is normal to have aches and pains in the first few weeks - and beyond! I am expecting my third and didn't have any symptoms with any until about 7 or 8 weeks.

If really worried, see your GP and get an early scan or go to your Early pregnancy unit.

Good luck

it is early days yet..and not everyone has strong symptoms....a good proportion of women do not ever have morning sickness, some get sorer boobs and that is it, some have no symptoms whatsoever , except for no period and a positive test

the pains you are having can indicate stretching and the massive alterations your body is going as the pregnancy is established

your sickness could start next week, or you might never have any....

if there is no bleeding and no cramping pain, you do know it is more than likely everything is ok? a proportion of pregnancies obviously do end in miscarriage, but try to be positive, there is no reason to think this here, is there?

Hi

Never experienced symptoms as yours but beleive that a mild crAMPING FEELING MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE TOO MUCH TO WORRY ABOUT, BUT WOULD SUGGEST IF IN A LOT OF PAIN TO GO TO a&e TO BE ON SAFE SIDE XX

Try to relax. It is pretty normal to have period type pains around the time the baby implants (normally from 8 days after ovulation, which is nearly 4 weeks from last period for many women) and it continues for a bit as the embryo implants more firmly. I had terrble "period pains" for a couple of weeks and took a lot of Annadin Extra (whoops). The "pain" is now 8 months old... (with, fortunately, no ill-effects from the pain killers)

Sorry about capitals!!! Damn caps lock

without wishing to contradict...by all means phone the GP, but at this early stage of pregnancy, there is little to be seen on a scan..very very unlikely to see a heartbeat until 7 + weeks, so you will have to wait a week and go back if you are scanned at this point, so it won;t really tell you much, IFYSWIM

Thanks all. I guess what is worrying me most is that I had had sore boobs, sickness, headaches all week at work - and now I feel fine (apart form cramps)

Very true Lulumama - I was probably about 7 weeks when had my first scan.

Mandler.....

pregnancy is full of these niggles...days you feel crap, and wish you didn;t, days you feel great and wish you felt crap because then you worry something is wrong !!

TBH, and without wishing to sound negative..if there is something wrong, there is nothing you can do .....

However, it sounds like a normal early pregnancy, and without any pain and bleeding, it sounds ok..

if you want to go to the docs and confirm your pregnancy and get in the system , you can ask for some reassurance...

Mandler - the only "typical" pg symptoms that I had were incredibly sore breasts. Once that went, I was fine until the heartburn started around the start of the second trimester. What I am saying is although some symptoms are more common, there doesn't seem to be any standard pattern that a pregnancy ought to follow.
If there is no reason to think that something is wrong (e.g. previous difficult pregnancies) then if I were you I would try to relax and enjoy being pregnant.
