Lower back dull ache and sore groin

I've 19 weeks pregnant and have a dull ache across my lower back.
I've also got sore groins almost the bottom of the pubic area that hurts when I lift my legs up or move my legs apart. It hurts when I'm lowering myself to sit on the toilet and to stand up again it's almost like sore muscles but I can't work out what could hurt in that area? It also hurts down there when I cough.
Any ideas? Confused

I'm not a doctor but have a read about SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) as I have it and like you my pubic bone hurts when I lift my legs or move them apart. Seeing a chiropractor (privately) has kept it in check with me as it only developed at 31weeks, but you can be referred via the nhs to a physio which could help- talk to your midwife. I thought I had an ingrown hair or something for a while as I couldn't idntify what ached in such a bizzare place but after having my pelvis re-aligned the pain went (it does come back though)! It's probably a good idea to see your gp/midwife to check it. Flowers

Definitely sounds like SPD, I have that feeling too of like someone with metal capped boots has just repeatedly kicked you in the front pubic bone Blush
I'm waiting for my physio referral now.....
In meantime you need to try not to do too much, imagine you have a short skirt on and try to keep knees together as much as possible Grin including in/out cars and in bed (try pillow between thighs/knees when in bed).
Am 21 weeks, it started a couple of weeks ago and hopefully stays manageable, some women can end up on crutches or immobile if it gets really bad so do take care of self as much as possible.
There's a few older threads on here I found useful so do have a read.

I've got this too Sad
I saw a GP tonight who said they won't refer me to a physio but recommended swimming in a warm pool and treading water. He said there isn't a lot I can do. I'm going to see if my MW will refer me to a physio though as it really hurts!

Sounds like spd I've been signed off work with it since about 22 weeks and my doctors recommended not going back to work and taking early mat.

I'd go see GP to get a diagnosis but it sounds like SPD/PGP. I ended up being signed off work for 3 months with it. I have private physio but I'm on crutches now if I have to walk more than round the house. People tell me they leap out of bed once they've had their babies if they've had it so here's hoping :)

I hope we'll be leaping out of bed once baby is born handbagCrab !
How long have you got to go? I'm 37+3 so hopefully not too long to go to find out if the rumours are true and I'll be able to put socks and shoes and trousers and underwear without wincing in pain.

A tip for OP, if you're doing anything like yoga, tell your instructor as mine changes all the positions to ensure that I don't over stretch my pelvis - I basically don't sit crossed leg or do any of the pelvis opening stretches. Knees have to be together and can't have one leg facing a different direction to the other as it pulls the pelvis in different directions and results in pain...

identify what causes you pain, and learn to do those things differently, keeping in mind the need to keep your pelvis together.
