Third trimester - mild period pains?

I'm 35w and have been having mild period pains all morning. I had this a couple of weeks ago and called the midwife who said not to worry. It's not painful enough to even consider taking a paracetamol, but I just wondered if anyone else experienced this? I need my mind putting at rest - sort of a plea to tell me it's normal?!

I also haven't had any BH yet - is this them?

They're Braxton hicks!

Really, pottering? They don't come and go, just a constant dull ache, like day 4 or 5 of my period would have been.

Yes I had this last week at 35 and this week at 36. I knew they were NOT braxton hicks because i get my fair share of those, these were period cramps! I told my midwife and she said it's everything loosening up and getting ready, this is not my first so she said my baby probs won't engage until labour but it was my pelvis loosening up and getting ready. They lasted pretty much a day then came back the next then I haven't had them since. She told me not to worry unless they got painful which they didn't just uncomfortable

Thanks Nikki - mine have now gone away again. I didn't have enough to drink yesterday so I think it might be related to being a little dehydrated, perhaps? I'm obviously keen to meet my baby but also not ready just yet...it staying in there for another 2-3 weeks would be great Grin

I had this for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. Really mild period cramps and on the morning I went into labour they were progressively getting worse. I think it is just your body preparing itself. When I went into labour everything happened quickly and I think it was because I was having those cramps, so I saw them as a good thing! But if you are at all worried about them speak to your midwife again. Good luck.

Jpiggle thank you for your advice. I have another midwife appointment next week at 36w so will mention it again then.

I have been working a lot of hours lately and my job requires me to be on my feet for most of the day, perhaps this is my body's way of telling me to slow down?? I am exhausted if I'm honest with myself but can't let it get on top of me because I've a while to go before mat leave.

The cramps aren't "bothering" me in terms of pain (I don't need to take even a paracetamol) but I am a first timer and an anxious one at that, so everything worries me. I'm happy that I spoke about this before and was told not to worry unless accompanied by other symptoms which I don't have.
