Hi,

I guess it depends on your invidial circumstances for having the scan.

For me with my second DC, I had them due to low fluid and static growth.
At my appointment (I had them weekly from 27 weeks) they asked me about movement and strapped me to a monitor to see her movements.

At the scan, they checked things like heart rate, how much amniotic fluid was present and for sufficient blood flow through the placenta etc.

Staff are usually lovely and approachable, so don't feel your asking too many questions if you have any tomorrow. Good luck!

I had a tonne of UTIs so i was contracting so had growth scans in case i needed to be induced/ went into labour, they check your baby measurements and go over them with you at the appointment

My growth scan was pretty relaxed, the sonographer was quite chatty, and pointed out what she was doing as she measured. As far as I can remember she checked the heart, stomach, bladder and other organs, and measured the head circumference, limbs, the fluid around the baby and the flow into umbilical cord and placenta. After the scan as she was typing up the notes she reassured me that everything looked good. I then saw the consultant straight afterwards who looked over the scan results and discussed the results with me. But as the previous poster says it really would depend on why you were having the scan - mine was for GD. Hope it all goes well!

Thank you ladies!

Mine are because I have a higher BMI so hoping it will be all straight forward xx

I had scans every few weeks because of low BMI

It's fairly standard

They do the scan, measure the babies size, look at the placenta and cord, off you pop.

If something looks wrong they ask you to stay behind and have a word with the doctor but that's about it
