Hi this is my 3rd pregnancy (2 normal healthy boys no problems during pregnancy) this has come as a complete shock and don't understand how this can happen. I went for my 12 week scan and I could clearly see the fluid on the neck ending part way down baby's back. They said it was 8.9mm and tested my blood and gave me 1:5 of all 3 chromosome chances. I'm devastated and feel so guilty and blame my self. I'm frantically trying to do reasearch. Any advice appreciated I am awaiting fur specialist to contact me to perform a cvs by time is going so slow

I have no helpful input for you. Just want to wish you the best of luck and hope you are ok as can be Flowers

So sorry to read this. It must be such a shock.

I had a 1:10 chance of Downs and my baby was OK but his nuchal was smaller than the measurements you quote.

What next steps have the hospital suggested? Will you have an Amnio or can they offer Harmony testing!

What a worrying time for you 💐
No advice but crossing my fingers that you are one of the 5.

I had a similar result in my first pregnancy. it wasn't one of the three main trisonomies, but it wasn't a good outcome either, unfortunately. I can't promise you that everything will OK, but you mustn't blame yourself or feel guilty. Chromosomal anomalies are random bad luck and if one is detected by the CVS it will be completely unrelated to anything you've done. There are lots of women who've had similar experiences on the antenatal tests and choices board if you want some support while you wait for the CVS and results. I'd also recommend Arc as an excellent point of support. Flowers

If you have the money for a private Harmony test, it's a straightforward blood test and you should get the results in about a week. I'm not sure how long CVS results take or what gestation you need to be for the test to be carried out, but Harmony can be done from 10 weeks. I paid £500 for mine but there are cheaper options, depends where in the country you are.

Hello I just wanted to say my chance was also 1in5. My 12 week scan was clear but at 20weeks major heart abnormalitys were found and we got told our chance was 1in5 of any chromosome abnormality. We got the amnio done and it was clear! Good luck
