I'm 39 +2 and since Thursday I have been in absolute agony. I have suffered with SPD throughout my pregnancy which recently calmed down a lot but it seems to be back and worse than ever.

It started on Thursday night with back ache and I thought I might be going into labour but since then the pain has moved down into my pelvis bum and legs, I have seen my midwife who said the babies head is engaged could this be what it causing my pain? Hot baths, hot water bottles and paracetamol are not touching the pain and I am struggling to sleep as every time I move I get a shooting pain in my legs and back. This is my first pregnancy and I know I don't have long left but any suggestions on how to deal with the pain would be greatly appreciated.

Bump

All I can think is massages from DP

Often spd pain improves when baby drops as it sort of wedges in the pelvic outlet and so internally supports the SI joints
Pain radiating down legs doesn't sound good though. Do you have a women health physio?

If it is pain that worsens when you move, have you been checked for DVT? Agony is not normal, you should definitely see a doctor. Midwives appear very dismissive of women's pain and while it is likely to be pregnancy related, you should see a doctor to rule out other potentially serious causes and to get a treatment plan. Leaving you for days in agony is not a plan.

If you do believe it is pregnancy related, you should ask about delivery now, by induction or section. At over 39 weeks, your baby is perfectly ready to arrive and so there seems to be little to be achieved from waiting while you suffer.
