Hospital Bag

So, only 30 weeks so have a while to go yet but want to get organised before Christmas but I've had a complete mind block and cannot figure out what to pack for the baby!

Here goes, I've packed 6 sleep suits (will pack another emergency bag that il leave in the car in case we run out) these are a combination of up to 7.5lbs and up to 10lbs. First little boy wore the smallest for quite a few weeks even though he was 7lb3oz. But don't know I should be packing more of the bigger size as my bump is definitely bigger this time!
6x vests
1x blanket
1x Cardigan
Hat and blanket for going home
3 muslins
Pack of nappies
Pack of water wipes

That's all I have. Have I forgotten anything crucial? What about sizes?

Thank you in advance!

Phone charger.
Clothes day/night for you.

Sounds about right for the baby. We had cotton wool balls too for nappy changes.

More difficult to advise on sizes - I had a growth scan shortly before being induced this time, which made decisions over what size baby clothes to pack easy. I guess if you have some bigger clothes in the car boot your DH can pop out and get them if necessary?

Here's why else I'd put in mine if ever get round to it
Nappy sacks
Vaseline (for me)
Antibacterial hand wipes (I am addicted to these)
Flip flops or easy to put on shoes
Dressing gown
Maternity notes in the car

That's all I can think of for now. If OH drives they can always go and grab things

Ah-ha, my favourite subject to bang on about advise on!

Tena lady disposable pants - much easier than faffing round with pads & knickers.

Water bottle with a built in straw - indispensable when you are too tired to lift your head up in labour, great postnatally when you're stuck on the sofa with a feeding / sleeping baby

Food, lots & lots of food - for DD's birth I only packed one packet of jelly babies and some prunes (?!), DP had to make an emergency dash to the supermarket after DD was born on a Saturday night and there wasn't enough food in the hospital to quell my raging hunger. My hospital bag this time is going to be 50% food.

Giant tummy-covering pants - if you end up with a c/s you aren't going to want anything pressing low on your abdomen. Consider this when planning what you'll wear home from hospital.

Your own pillows - I work in the NHS: pillows are like gold-dust, and the ones we do have are crap. Take your own, in a non-white pillow case so it's obvious they're yours not the hospitals. You probably won't need them in labour but will be a god-send on postnatal ward.

Flip flops not slippers
Hair bobble - hair in your face v annoying in labour
Lip balm
Face wipes

I honestly wouldn't bother taking in blankets for baby or towels, the hospital will provide these and they only get messed up.

Any meds/inhalers you take & glasses/contacts
Camera & charger
Phone & charger
Cash & coins
Change of T shirt & deoderant for your DH just incase!
A cheap water bottle with a sports cap for filling with warm water and squirting on your bits when you wee afterwards
Handcream
Complete set of clean clothes for you for going home in (these can wait in the car though)
Your notes

Oh and I pack paracetamol & ibuprofen because getting painkillers postnatally last time was a bloody nightmare, didn't matter how much I asked!

So far I've packed:

3 X nighties
Towel
Slippers
Outfit
Several pants
Maternity pads
Caesarean belt
Nipple cream
Nipple pads
Shower, face, teeth stuff
Snacks and drinks

3x baby grows
3x vests

Scratch mittens
Coat

Nappies x 12
Ready made bottles x12

I'll have my notes, phone, money, charger etc in my handbag.

I'm hoping to be in one night so this should be plenty. If not, dh can get extra stuff and take washing home everyday. Ime there's not a huge amount of room for storage.
