Feeling exhausted - when did the tiredness end for you?? 😵

I'm 11 weeks today and the tiredness has just knocked me out completely. I need a new word for tired. I was tired around the 8/9 week mark but this is something else, I feel like I have flu without symptoms. I work from home thank God. But we're making plans for Christmas etc, and I'm just thinking, I don't know if I'll physically be able to sit upright at the table!

So please tell me, if you had this, WHEN DID IT GO? Please give me hope - or else prepare me for the worst ...

Thank you Smile

It might be worth trying iron supplements. I get anemia symptoms when my bloods still come back in healthy range, when I feel better they are pretty high. My midwife said that at 10 she would faint even though that's the bottom end of normal. Some people run higher. I took some and felt much better. It might not help, but it did me. I was couldn't-physically-get-to-the-top-of-the-stairs tired.

Around 12/14 weeks. Morning sickness went at that point too (just in time thank God for a long haul flight with my toddler)

I came onto this board to start this very same thread!

I am 9+5 and feel dreadful. I have a 4-yr old and he was a typically poor sleeper as a baby but the lack-of-sleep tiredness I had then, and have had at other times (e.g. writing my thesis on 3 hrs sleep a night) is different to this. I was pretty tired in my first pregnancy too but not like this, I feel as though I am having a completely different pregnancy.,

Lack-of-sleep tired feels very different. My senses feel 'jangly' and I feel it in my eyes and head. This feels like flu, and foggy, as a PP has said, and I feel the physical and mental tiredness all through my body.

I really hope it passes soon. I am hosting Christmas dinner and at this rate, after the effort of cooking it I'll be off to bed while everyone else eats it!

My best friend who's now got two said how she got the extreme tiredness first trimester both time but how it did pass...so I'm holding on to that. She totally got how I felt and said how the simplest thing is exhausting and lying down is the best thing for it! Good luck

14 weeks, I miraculously woke up with some energy again! I honestly found having a newborn less tiring than being pregnant!

Winifredgoose · 02/12/2016 06:17

In my pregnancies it was between 10 and 12 weeks. I hope you feel better soon. I don't want to sound irritating, but try and appreciate that you don't also have a young toddler to look after. Good luck, it is hard, but you should feel better soon x

Sunshinie · 02/12/2016 08:28

I am 14 weeks now and actually feeling like myself again. So hopefully not too much longer for you op. No one told me about the tiredness, it completely floored me. Trying to explain it to DH I reminded him of being really jetlagged when we went on a long haul trip and had to wait 2hrs to check into our hotel. Now I'm feeling better however, I have to deal with a lot of guilt as I was pretty much incompetent at work for about 8 weeks 😞

For many it gets better 2nd trimester. I was then knackered 3rd trimester as DC spent all his time jumping up and down on my bladder including during the night so sleep was limited.

Make sure you take your pre-natal vitamins and include energy boosting items in your diet

perfectlybroken · 02/12/2016 09:03

For me it started to improve around 12 weeks, but my 16 weeks I really felt energetic again. The tiredness in the 3rd trimester was different, more due to lugging a baby around in my tummy and not that awful dragging tiredness.

Thanks all - winifried, absolutely, I just texted my friend who has two saying that I do not know how she coped feeling like this, with a toddler.

Sproglets oh god, Cake for you - you poor thing, sounds horrendous. Hope you have another adult around who can help.

Ginger, thanks, I will try iron - my haemoglobin was 135 g/ml (I think), which is in the middle of healthy scale, not sure how 10 relates to that?
Coffee, good advice to get Vit D levels checked - does anyone know how I do this? I can ask at our next scan but my impression is that the NHS isn't very interested in vitamins unless you have raging scurvy or something. Which, fair enough, they have a lot of other stuff to be doing. I will ask though.

Glad I'm not alone but sorry to hear there are so many of you out there who are feeling like this. Brew to all.

Gee I feel your pain. 8 weeks with DC2 and the fatigue is unending. I had mastitis this week and have not been awake for more than 8 hours solidly since Monday. Pregnancy plus bacterial infection plus antibiotics equals hibernation apparently. With DS1 though the haze lifted around 12 weeks and I was a ball of energy till around 36 weeks so there is still hope!

ChristmasSeacow · 02/12/2016 12:33

Encouraging that lots of people felt better after the first trimester or so. I am really hoping that I get a bounce of energy soon as it is going to take superhuman effort to clear the spare room so we have somewhere to keep this baby!

SuperUnicorn · 02/12/2016 15:51

I'm 18 weeks, I started to feel better earlier this week but it only lasted a couple of days and now I'm knackered again. Hopefully I'll gradually get a few more days each week. I suspect I overdid it on the days I felt good (as I have so much to do that I've been putting off as not felt up to it) and am now paying for it, so do take it easy.

MollyHuaCha · 02/12/2016 16:20

I was tired till around 16 weeks. Then I had some lovely weeks of 'blooming' until I felt tired again from around 34 weeks. Wishing you well with your pregnancy Smile

jbee664 · 02/12/2016 19:56

Yes to whoever said it was like jet lag!!!

coffeecakemum · 03/12/2016 11:34

Please ask mid wife. Depending on your levels sometimes diet changes alone are enough to improve it. But it's best to know. I used to sleep on couch by 6 pm was so tired when I was pregnant. I could see improvement in energy levels with supplements. Even after 4 years my levels keep going up and down and I request for a test every time I feel tired. Hope you feel better soon.

Mooseville · 03/12/2016 13:08

I'm 14 weeks and I've come out the other side of the 'fog'
I'm still shattered by the evening though, and bedtime is 7/8pm!!

haveacupoftea · 03/12/2016 13:20

I'm 14 weeks and I seem to go through cycles of being really hungry for a few days then wanting to sleep a lot for a few days.
