Suppository progesterone Pregeffik, and spotting

I went to the docs last week as i am 6 weeks pregnant approx and had some brown when wiping then this morning went to the docs again as had some pinkish red when i wiped. Its not my normal gyno as she wasnt there and he said i need suppository progesterone 'Progeffik' 200mg every 24 hours. I am in Spain so translation is not that great but what i understand it is to prevent a miscarriage. Has anyone else taken this and is it normal?

I've not taken this brand but through 4 rounds of IVF I've had Progesterone support in each. Cyclogest and Utrogestan. These are used as standard in IVF to help maintain the uterine environment to support the embryo. I know they are also used in cases of repeat miscarriage in the UK too. When pregnancy was achieved I had to take til 12 weeks then wean myself off.

I've used progesterone same as MrsChris. IVF pregnancy so took cyclogest 200mg 2x day a day stopped at 12 weeks.
I'd take it as a precaution if I were you.

Thanks for your replies... Ive not had IVF so do you think this is normal? This is my 1st pregnancy so all very new and confusing for me 😖 Lol

It wouldn't be 'normal' as such in the UK, here I believe you'd be allowed to have 3 miscarriages before any investigation was done and any preventative measures were taken. As a general rule miscarriages happen for two reasons- genetic abnormality of the embryo or sub optimal uterine environment. The Progesterone would help if you had a sub optimal uterine environment by helping to maintain the womb lining where the embryo embeds.

Conversely, spotting can be totally normal and as a result of implantation (Google implantation bleeding)- I had this with my pregnancy and it is actually a good sign.

It sounds like the gynae is being cautious and trying to give your pregnancy every chance of success. I would take the suppositories, they won't harm your chances.
