I don't think my baby will ever come

I'm 40+3 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first was born 4 weeks early. I really expected DS2 to be here by now.
I have no signs whatsoever. He isn't even a little bit engaged. I see the midwife tomorrow and she was supposed to be doing a sweep. I doubt she will because he is still so high up.
I don't want a C section or induction but expect this is inevitable now.

Sorry for the pity party- just feel really fed up with it all. On top of general pregnancy misery I also have some horrible cold thing that isn't shifting.
I'm snuggled up in bed with a hot water bottle unable to sleep wondering what it would be like to be pregnant FOREVER.

Good luck. Hopefully things are moving for you. Grin

Though I will admit to being a little Envy

NotSureYet · 01/12/2016 11:45

Really hope things are getting a move on for you and that you're having better luck than me.

I lost a massive bit of my mucus plug last night (it's been coming away slowly for weeks) and I thought that was a promising sign. I thought I'd be having a sweep this morning at my 41 weeks appointment but was told since I'm only 40 + 4 they can't do it yet.

They also said my bump's measuring small (again!) and have referred me for yet another growth scan (I've already had three and every one has said she's larger than average) and said I can't have a sweep until after the scan, which is likely to be Monday. They'll induce me next Friday at 41 + 5 if I haven't gone in to labour already by then. I'm so ready to get this kid out!!!

NotSure I have been losing huge chunks of the plug all day/ last night. Last night I was even having contractions- I felt so sure I was in labour. This morning it's all stopped. Sad
Good luck with your growth scan. I've had loads of them too because I have a low bmi but each time the baby has been perfect. It's so frustrating.
Come on babies!!

Just had a bloody show. That must be a good sign, right? Please come out baby. I need to meet you!

Peppa that does sound like a good sign! Hopefully it'll get underway soon. What a pain about the contractions stopping and starting though, I keep getting the same. Convinced it's all kicking off and then it all just fizzles out.

I know they can't stay in forever but it does feel like she's never going to arrive at the moment.

Thanks for the wishes for the scan. I'm sure they'll say the same thing as always. It's booked for Monday and if all's we'll they'll give me a sweep immediately afterwards. Hope it works...

The world health organisation says it's completely normal for women to have babies up to 42 weeks. We get pretty caught up with it having to be 40 weeks in this country, but am sure the baby will come when they're ready!

PeppaAteMySoul · 02/12/2016 03:18

I hope it works for you too notsure.

Nothing is happening here yet but I did pounce on DP earlier. (Lucky we are both insomniacs). Hopefully a bit of bonking will help speed things along and if not well it's always nice to be intimate.
It is good to remember that babies are happy up to 42 weeks. I just really want a natural intervention free birth and I feel like I'm running out of time.

I know how you feel Peppa. I can't help but worry that the longer I go, the more likely I'll need an assisted birth or c-section or something. I know it doesn't really matter as long as baby is healthy but it'd be nice to get a water birth this time.

I too pounced on DH last night. Or rather, allowed him to pounce on me while I laid there like some kind of beached whale. Highly romantic.

Had some blood tinged mucus this morning. Don't know if it's the sex that's caused the little bit of blood or just the end of my plug finally going. Really hoping things get going soon. If for no other reason, I'd like to stop getting up to pee five times a night.

mum2Bomg · 02/12/2016 23:18

I can totally sympathise. I'm 40+3 today, contractions started yesterday from 5am and stopped at 5pm. Had an unsuccessful sweep today as cervix closed. Then more contractions from 8pm tonight and now they've stopped again.

Urgh!!! I sooo want to meet our baby!

mum2Bomg · 02/12/2016 23:22

Tearily asked DH last night if he'd help me if I was still pregnant in March. He promised. At least it made us laugh!

PeppaAteMySoul · 03/12/2016 00:12

My son was born at 4pm today. The sex definitely helped speed things on. We are very blessed.

How you doing Peppa? Baby NotSure arrived at 20:18 this evening. Nice straight forward water birth, just like I hoped for. We're on the way home now.

Good luck. Hope it all gets started soon Flowers

NotSureYet · 03/12/2016 00:29

Congratulations!!! Birthday twins!!

Winegumaddict · 03/12/2016 01:35

Hi All baby winegum also arrived yesterday at 7:30 pm after a sweep in the morning. Also and unassisted water birth. We've just got home. Congratulations everyone xx

PeppaAteMySoul · 03/12/2016 01:53

Notsure and winegum congratulations on your babies! Also had a water birth with gas and air. Being kept in overnight because I lost more blood than they would have liked during delivery but we are both well.

Congratulations everyone 😊

Basicbrown · 03/12/2016 08:35

Hahaha congratulations all. I was about to add that dd2's head was engaged for 7 weeks...... I don't think it means anything (other than pain walking) but that is now rather superfluous Grin

KittensWithChristmasHatsOn · 03/12/2016 09:05
