Hello, I'm 37+4 and am being woken up in the night by very achey hips... I could do with some sleep at the moment, so if anyone has any advice to ease them, it would be lovely!

I suffered really badly from this literally all the way through my pg. I found that putting a pillow or cushion between my knees helped, as it tended to raise my legs so they were level with my hips iyswim. Obviously you have to keep alternating but I always went for the achier side. Helped me sleep a bit better.

Had awful hip pain with DS2, partly due to previous injury. Apart from warm baths there's not much you can do. If you're struggling to sleep you could ask your doctor if it's OK to use codeine or co-codamol at night - I used 15mg codeine before bed and again when I woke up for my first loo visit () - don't you just love pg - not for much longer though!

I wish I knew the answer. It's got worse and worse since about 24 weeks, and now is almost unbearable. All I can do at night is mess about with pillows until I find the least uncomfortable position... not good

You would not believe how long I just spent trying to work out where the rhyme was in my post before I looked at the title!

Paracetamol, and if you have a boppy/nursing pillow, stick it between your legs so your knee and ankle are both lifted.

Also, try putting an extra duvet or two underneath you to cushion the hip you're lying on. It may annoy your other-half but its well worth it.

I actually bought a full length body pillow during my pregnancy, i LOVED it, with me developing SPD by week 17, it was a real god-send.

Thank you ladies! I tried the pillow trick last night and I think it did help some. DH got up, once I'd woken him tossing and turning (and throwing pillows all over the place) and got me a hot water bottle, which seemed to really help too. I am going to tell him tonight that I think a nice leg massage before going to sleep will really help
...I've been trying to think of more poetic lines but my brain is far too addled to come up with some on actual purpose!!!
