And do they work?

If you haven't announced your pregnancy at work yet, they are a good way for everyone to have guessed by the end of the day Grin

jbee664 · 16/11/2016 10:22

Luckily being winter, I could keep them covered.

Do they work though?

I wear them... don't know if they do work as still feel rough! For me I feel like it's probably the placebo effect that I feel better when I wear them..!

DramaAlpaca · 16/11/2016 10:26

It's a long time since I was last pregnant, but I remember trying seasickness bands and I think they helped a bit. They are worth trying anyway.

Seeline · 16/11/2016 10:34

I tried them and they didn't work for me.
I also tried ginger, flat lemonade, ready salted crisps, dry biscuits before getting out of bed, trying to eat little and often, and getting plenty of rest.
Drugs (from the GP) were the only thing that worked for me.
Hope you feel better soon - it is horrible Flowers

I bought some at the weekend and have worn them over the last couple of days but I can't say that they've made much of a difference so far.

Roomba · 16/11/2016 10:37

I used them with DS1, and I do think they helped a bit even if it was the placebo effect. I certainly stopped puking during the daytime, and only puked when v tired in the evenings, after I started using them. Of course, my nausea may have just improved naturally anyway.

SharingMichelle · 16/11/2016 10:40

I think they helped a bit. Not a magic cure, but they did make a difference.

You have to be consistent though. If you take them on and off they won't work at all. I decided mine weren't working and took them off. Soon felt ten times sicker. Put them back and they never were quite as good again.

purplepingu · 16/11/2016 10:44

Worked amazing for me. I was feeling sick pretty much all the time and was being sick maybe once a day after breakfast. Stopped feeling sick and being sick immediately.

I may be quite susceptible to the placebo effect though!

Bloopbleep · 16/11/2016 13:54

I have no idea if they work. My sickness this time round comes and goes. I am totally floored for a day or two then I'm fine for three days. I'm only 7 weeks so it worries me when I'm not sick but it could well be that the bands are taking the edge off things

qazxc · 16/11/2016 13:56

They took the edge off a bit for me.

elmo1980 · 16/11/2016 14:04

I used them and it was like instant relief as soon as I put them on. No idea if it was placebo or genuine but tbh I didn't care! They only cost a few quid from Superdrug so worth a try I'd say. Good luck,

jbee664 · 17/11/2016 12:51

Thanks all, I ordered some and they've just arrived (good old amazon prime) Fingers crossed they do the trick, was struggling to even hold down water yesterday! Sad

They are certainly helping me (I think, could be placebo effect). They aren't a miracle cure, but they seem to make a difference. Hope they help you too.

Babymamaroon · 17/11/2016 20:36

I think mine took the edge of horrendous sickness but like PPs said it could be a placebo effect. Regardless, I couldn't be without mine!

jbee664 · 17/11/2016 20:49

They really have helped - and almost straight away! I'm not saying I feel amazing but compared to yesterday there's a massive difference :)

Do you take yours off at night? I've read you should to make them more effective in day and give your wrists a break.

hopsalong · 17/11/2016 20:54

I also think they take the edge off a bit. (I was / occasionally am still throwing up with them on, though!) You have to get them in the right spot -- turns out to be a good bit further up the wrist than I'd thought. I started having acupuncture as well for morning sickness and I realised after the first session that the little needle marks were three full finger widths up my arm from the wrist crease, but I'd been wearing the seasickness bands closer to my hands. Worth a try if you are feeling really grim. Also I have small wrists and found the child-sized ones were actually better/ tighter.

NeverAShadowOfDoubt · 17/11/2016 23:02

I wear them for travel sickness and they work lovely but sadly they did naff all for my 24/7 relentless nausea between weeks 6 and 14. They clearly work for some and not for others!

MissMooMoo · 18/11/2016 10:52

I think they helped yes.
When I asked DH if he thought I seemed any better after wearing them his response was "no comment"
I think if you THINK they have made a difference then placebo will make you feel better anyways.

jbee664 · 18/11/2016 16:42

My OH thought I seemed like a different person yesterday when he got back - I think because I wasn't lying down feeling sick and I also managed to eat.

I saw my acupuncturist today (was seeing her following a miscarriage before this pregnancy) and she said she believes they work as the pressure point they touch is one they use in acupuncture for sickness - be in morning sickness, chemotherapy etc.

Sparrowlegs248 · 18/11/2016 19:21

They made a huge difference to me. I bought the travel sickness ones from boots.

I did indeed forget to take them off once I got to work one day, someone asked me why I was wearing travel sickness bands......

I used to put them on first thing and Wear them all day if not working. I had very noticeable tan lines! If I was at work I would take them off when I got there, put them on at lunchtime and as soon as I finished.
