Changing Bag

Hi,
I've been looking at changing bags and they seem quite expensive. I found a big handbag in Primark today and thought I would use that. Just wondered what you all thought, do I need an actual 'changing bag'? Has anyone just used a normal bag?

I bought mine from Amazon. I spent £25 which I think is cheap considering I will use it every day for at least a year. Last time I signed up to the boots baby club and got a free one. It only lasted a few months but it was free!

I bought an expensive bag pacapod I think it was called around £200 never used it! I bought a Kipling bag and found it much better, mine is lined so I can wipe inside. I also used a mini backpack type one from mountain warehouse as my baby got bigger and I needed less. Now I'm finally getting my bag back I'm going for a Louis Vuitton the one everyone has but I don't care

Most changing bags come with a sold up changing mat included, which is great for when you're out and about I've found. But I'm sure you could just buy one separately if you wanted. And most have pockets or compartments.
I don't see why it couldn't work using a normal large bag though. I'm sure many do.
(I got the bag that matches my pram because I wanted all the accessories to match) but there's no real NEED for it.

Best bag I found is from IKEA for a massive £13! It has 2 bigger sections which I use for nappies/wipes and the other side for drinking cup/snacks. There's also a great hidden pocket that I stick my phone and purse into. It's so good I recently bought one for a friend and filled it with nappies, wipes and other baby bits and pieces as a baby gift. It's honestly been a fabulous changing bag and so cheap that if there's any leaks or spills it's not a big issue.

Buy the primark one!! I got a pink lining one(half price) and I HATE it!!! It's useless! I bought one in penneys to use instead

I just bought a normal bag with lots of pockets/compartments and then bought a fold up changing mat separately. I found a lot of the changing bags a bit mumsy for my liking, and expensive for what they were.

I got the overpriced pacapod and hardly used it. However, it comes with a nappy changing and food pod inside and those I use everyday. So would recommend getting two smaller bags to go in your main one to help you with finding things quickly, and trips to the changing table.

I splurged on a storksak which I love but I love the fact there are 4 pockets outside the bag for easy grabbing & the fact it's roomy inside so I can just chuck everything in.

I had a pink lining but it's so structured I couldn't just throw things in which annoyed me!

So rather than a particular bag go for one with plenty of pockets & internal depts if that makes sense!

A normal bag would be fine, but it is worth getting a thin folding changing mat. I'd also consider having a sealable bag to go inside for poo/wee/food disaster clothing.

You definitely need a mini changing mat to go in it but any big bag will do. Mine was a rucksack that had a handy little pocket on the outside for MY stuff (phone, keys and purse) and a bottle holder probably designed for an adult water bottle but worked equally well for the baby's bottle! You'll also need room for a change of clothes for the baby, a couple of nappies, wipes, nappy sacks , muslin and maybe a toy or too.

Had various different ones. None were perfect so I ended up with a large bag that had one divider. Worked best for me. Mothercare do similar. I can't believe how expensive they can be!

And stick it in whichever bag you fancy. £38 seems a bit steep mind you, I bet you could find one cheaper.

Much easier to trek to the loo with this in one hand a child in the other. The whole thing goes in the wash too.

We are post nappies but I still use it as a wash bag - without the mat obvs.

Mine was a changing bag but actually, being honest, it was just a big bag with nothing special about it. I wasn't impressed with the changing mat so just used a hand towel which meant I could wash it often.

I can machine wash it though which has been helpful when milk got spilled in it.

Also. If you have a particularly explody child it's well worth having a disposable mat in your bag. Then you don't need to worry about sorting out a particularly murky one in a public loo. You can just sling it.

Saved my life more than once, good for potty training too.

The main advantage of a changing bag is that it fits on your pram. Works really well but if you go for the primark one I'd say make sure it has pockets on the outside, been super useful for me!

Mine was a cheap one from Amazon, called Tiny Tilia or something like that. It was fine and I will probably dig it out and use it again this time, actually.
